Coal Fired Power Plant (CFPP)

Process Engineer in Operation Division (December, 2016- Present) CFPP is a power plant with production 50MWe (25MWe Each Unit). It is sync with national grid to provide power to WAPDA and to raise house load. Perform duty as Shift Supervisor:

Performed duties as shift supervisor which provided technical support for safe and efficient plant operation

Participated in maintenance job meetings and Coordinated with them to execute maintenance activities.

Managed and supervised the activities and responsibilities of crew manpower

Maintained daily parameters of plant DCS & local area reading sheets and check lists

Trained technical staff for efficient plant operation and improving personnel skills related to coordination

Participated in all the start-up and shutdown activities several times in different scenarios Worked with Power Plant installation company China (HTPC):

Attend to China team & give suggestion for modification in structure in process and operation point of view

Read out manual & P&IDs about installation of equipment of all systems of Boiler, Turbine, Generator, Water Treatment Plant and other Auxiliary systems and visited field on daily basis Trainings by Hunan Electric Power Design Institute (HEPDI) of China:

Learned normal operational parameters, tripping parameters, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, causes of troubleshooting and their remedial actions

Actively participated commissioning team of Chinese to commission plant equipment wise as well as system of Boiler, Turbine, Auxiliary, Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and electrical, and gave proposal for rectification and modification during commissioning.

Operated plant with the help of Digital Control System (DCS) with collaboration of Chinese operation team Auxiliary System:

Operated and dissolved problems of Water Treatment Plant, Coal Conveying, Ash & Slag Removal, Steam Water Sampling, Cooling Tower, Flu Gas Desulphurization (FGD), Compressors & Chemical Dosing System

Maintained water quality of Water Treatment Plant, Circulating Water, Closed Cooling, Boiler Feed Water, and Condensate Water System to reduce corrosion and scaling in heat exchangers, De-aerator, and Steam Drum with calculated Blow Down and Dosing of NaClO, NaOH, Ammonia, Hydrazine & Phosphate

Monitored hazards particles of flue gases i.e. SOx and NOx and controlled with chemical treatment Steam Turbine:

Performed all start up prerequisites i.e. DEH Over speed test, Oil injection, TSI Over speed test, Governing Valve opening/closing test

Monitoring and controlling all equipment of Turbine with in design and effective parameters to avail maximum output i.e. Circulating Water, Feed Water, Open Cooling, Closed Cooling Water, Vacuum, Extractions, Steam Gland Seal, Lubricating Oil, Condensate, Preheaters and Main Steam Systems

Handled Turbine effectively under all types of troubleshooting i.e. failure of power, instability of grid, MFT signal from Boiler side, tripping of feed water, circulating, condensate, open, close, and vacuum pumps, leakage from feed water line, high vibrations and high temperatures lubricating oil of bearings and pads

Calculated performance and rating of numerous heat exchangers and decided their cleaning Boiler:

Performed all start up prerequisites i.e. Hydrostatic testing, spray oil test, fluidization test, Furnace purging

Monitoring and controlling all equipment of Boiler with in design and effective parameters to avail maximum output i.e. Secondary Air Fan, Primary Air Fan, & Induced Draft Fan, coal feeder frequency, flow of boiler feed water, flow of hot flue gases and soot cleaning

Handled Boiler under troubleshootings i.e. instability of grid, ETS signal from turbine side, tripping of SA, PA

& ID fan, leakage from blow down line of steam drum, blockage of cyclone, ending of water inventory from drum due to failure of feed water pump and coking of coal due blockage of fluidizing nozzles

Energy saving project by designing and installation of orifices, and valves at different locations

Solved pumps cavitation problems by calculating NPSHa and giving required NPSH

Detected the PSVs leakage of various equipment during PSVs survey and got rectified Electrical systems:

Synchronization, normal operation and control of Main Generator, Main Transformer and supervision of all electrical equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.

Ensured plant in running on Islanding Mode

Management responsibilities:

To prepare total power generation and performance report on daily basis

Coordinated with maintenance division for rectification issues of plant and updating shutdown job list

Reviewed and prepared Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of different systems of plant i.e. Feed Water System, Lube Oil System, Turning Gear, Moisture and Paper Filtration Machines of Lubricating Oil, Cleaning of Circulating Forebay Screens, Coal Dust Suppression and Pulse Bag Filters

Delivered presentation to operation and maintenance division staff i.e. Cooling Tower, Soot Blowing, and Selective Non-Catalytic Reaction (SNCR)

Simulated different system of plant on ASPEN HYSIS and optimize the plant according to simulation results

Developing and implementing plant safe maintenance procedures i.e. Work Request, Work Authorization, Work and Test Authorization, Hazard Permit, and Order To Operates (OTOs). And using of tags i.e. Do Not Operate, Caution, Work In Progress
