Lead Project Engineer:
Lead Front End Engineering Design including site surveys, layouts, P&IDs, material lists contract documents with technical specifications, commercial terms and conditions. Coordinate bid evaluation, bidder queries and prepare recommendation of award. Lead project execution with EPC contractors. Ensure project progresses within budget, on schedule and allocated resources. Foresee any potential delay and mitigate with appropriate corrective actions.
Pre Contract Stage
FEED studies for gas separation, water knockout, treatment and water Injection facilities with original concept to well-defined scopes of work and contract deliverables for multiple projects.
Conduct regular project / package reviews to keep client and stakeholders involved in design, change management and updates in specifications, scope and detail design. Communicate with tender committees for technical clarifications.

Lead multi-discipline project teams for detail engineering, resolve design issues among three remote design office locations. Prepare decision support packages to facilitate management in decision making effort on techno-commercial issues. Interface project groups for engineering and field engineering issues.

Pre Contract Stage
Coordinate front-end engineering (FEED) for Oil Gathering Center projects with gas, oil and water separation. Site surveys, tender check estimates, contracting activities, bidder’s queries and evaluation. Coordinate safety studies i.e., HAZOP, HAZID, EIA, QRA, PHSER SIL and LOPA for pre and post contract stages. GC-24 Project completed 6 months earlier than schedule, higher than client’s expectations and satisfaction, designed for feed of Sour (high Sulphur / Jurassic) Crude to produce dry crude, vapour gas for LNG plant.
Lead execution of EPC projects with multi-discipline team during detail engineering, procurement, sub-contracting, coordinating equipment suppliers, manufacturing, factory acceptance tests (FAT), completions, commissioning, turnover with performance guarantees / warranties and closeout. Monitor budgets, schedules and resources.
Resolve technical, commercial and contractual issues with project team, asset and contractor. Conduct regular project / package reviews to keep client and stakeholders updated with changing requirements and updates in specifications, scope and detail design. Review and process contractors progress payments of invoices.
Support commissioning team by reviews of manuals and coordinate among all teams for a successful completion. Coordinate front-end engineering (FEED) and estimation activities. Lead project-planning, goal setting, specification development, constructability & operability reviews, impact on safety, health and environment. Lead / coordinate value-engineering reviews and recommend potential savings, layer of protection analysis (LOPA) and safety integrity level (SIL) studies.
Identify, review, and incorporate the client-supplied items, including changes with client’s and standard drawings etc. Handle and dispose off non-conformities in disciplines.
Project: Upgrade and Expansion of Butyl Rubber Plant at Lanxes Inc (Bayer), Canada, $120 Mn.
The project included addition of new cryogenic reactors, ethylene compressors, hexane wash system, various petrochemicals pumps, final product conveyors systems and hookup with the existing plant at tie-ins. Also upgrade of heavy duty pumps and compressors with new rotors and other spares.
POLYPHALT TECHNOLOGIES, CANADA (Feb 2001 – Aug 2004)
Project Manager
Manage projects of asphalt production plants at refineries and terminal operations in Canada and US. Lead detail design for process and control systems for asphalt modifying plants, sizing pipelines, tanks and equipment e.g. pumps, vessels, metering, valves etc. Develop equipment specifications for procurement and coordinate contractors for timely completion. Products included innovative solutions of base asphalt modification with a variety of plastics and rubbers for challenging pavement conditions.

Project and Facilities Manager
Manage multi-discipline projects, prepare budgets, schedules and resources for the main refinery projects involving pipelines, storage facilities, modifications, debottlenecking, installation of equipment, safety systems e.g. emergency shut-off system, hi-low level alarm system in fuel tanks. Develop RFP’s, present proposals and contract strategies for material supplies, pipeline fabrication and equipment installation.
Develop and execute facilities projects based on reliability centred maintenance reports to maximize equipment availability. Review Potential failures modes and their effects for different equipments, like pumps, compressors, turbines, combustion chambers, boilers, motorized control valves, cooling water systems, etc for generating corrective action for the future for more reliable equipment.
HSE and Environment
Work as a focal point on health, safety and environmental issues for the department. Conduct root-cause investigations for incidents, implement remedial actions and spread learning. Prepare documentation for HSE management system including hazard register and proactive actions plan. Manage on-going reporting of potential incidents from all terminals.
Supervise a team for assessing ground contamination of soil by jet fuel from underground pipelines leakages. It involved sampling, interpreting lab results, preparing remedial action plan and implement. Scope consisted five oil terminals and underground pipeline network.

Construction Project Engineer (EPC)
Supervise construction teams assigned on pipeline fabrication; testing, rigging, installation, commissioning etc. used isometric drawings in shop and field fabrication. Installation included pumps, heat exchangers, crude distillation columns, vacuum distillers, chilled water systems and air coolers.
Review design of mechanical systems and oversee the implementation to maintain compliance to specification and applicable standards. Check quality of fabrication, steel structure, pipelines, testing, installation and commissioning against ASME standards. Make changes to design where necessary.
Preparation of tender documents including terms & conditions, standards and bills of material, construction schedules and cost estimates. Evaluate bids and prepare sub-contracts e.g. insulation, painting etc. Plan, schedule shutdowns and major capital repair activities and supervise site activities.
EDUCATION:
Masters of Mechanical Engineering - Wayne State University, Michigan, USA in 1992 with emphasis on Heat Transfer and Mechanical Design including Finite Element Analysis.
