The Qiantan project base covers an area of about 75000 square meters and is divided into five independent plots: 37-01, 22-01, 24-01, 28-01 and 30- 01. The sixteen buildings in the five plots are of crystal shape and the architectural language is very clear. The project is a mixed land, including office, commercial and residential. The total aboveground development area is about 370000 square meters and the total underground construction area is about 190000 square meters. Among them, plots 37-01, 24-01 and 30-01 are close to the subway, and all five plots are underground and connected with the surrounding plots. Design architect is KPF, structural consultant is TT, LDI is Shanghai Design Institute, and the GC include Shanghai Construction No.7, Shanghai Construction No.4, and China Construction No.8.

• Shenzhen Tailun Square project (Lenovo Houhai Center), FuTian District, Shenzhen. This project is jointly funded by Lenovo Corporate and Tishman Speyer. It locates in the heart of the Houhai International Business District. The base area is around 30,000 square meters, GFA is 200,000 square meters, total CFA is around 300,000 square meters, 4 stories basement, and building height is 230 meters, including offices and commercial. Challenging character: it sits very close to the subway, and also need develop accesses together with metro. The project has multiple shareholders, the controlling planning code is very strict, high zone office need to be altered to residential after completion, two towers’ core need 90 degrees rotation, project is located in the reclamation area and soil condition is very poor. The architecture scheme is completed by KPF, LDI is Zhubo, and the GC is China Construction No.1.

• Jiangwan F1C project, YangPu District, Shanghai. The base area is around 29,000 square meters. The project is invested by Junkang Insurance firm and it sits close to municipal culvert and planning subway. GFA is 120,000 square meters, total CFA is around 170,000 square meters, 3 high-rise buildings, and building height is 120 meters, including offices and commercial. The architecture scheme is completed by Henning Larsen, LDI is UDG, and the GC is China Construction No.3.

• Jiangwan F1D project, YangPu District, Shanghai. The base area is around 14,000 square meters. The project is invested by Junkang Insurance firm and it sits very close to existed subway and Municipal culvert. GFA is 110,000 square meters, total CFA is around 135,000 square meters, and building height is 280 meters, including offices and commercial. The two F1D+E projects are the first in China, the world's rare large eccentric steel structure with an external concrete core tube, and they are also the tallest and landmark buildings in Yangpu District. The architecture scheme is completed by Buro Ole Scheeren, LDI is AeCOM, and the GC is China Construction No.3.

• Jiangwan F1B project, YangPu District, Shanghai. The base area is around 24,000 square meters. In the early stage, the project was invested by Singapore GIC and urban investment group. In the later stage, the project was acquired by ByteDance, and the building design has been adjusted and partly reconstructed. It sits close to existed subway and Municipal culvert. Its GFA is 110,000 square meters, total CFA is around 149,000 square meters, and building height is 100 meters, including offices and commercial. The architecture scheme is completed by GMP, LDI is Tongji Design Institute, and the GC is China Construction No.8.

• Jiangwan F1A project, YangPu District, Shanghai. The base area is around 21,000 square meters. In the early stage, the project was invested by Singapore GIC and urban investment group. In the later stage, the project was acquired by ByteDance, and the building design has been adjusted and partly reconstructed. Its GFA is 85,000 square meters, total CFA is around 126,000 square meters, and building height is 130 meters, including offices and commercial. The architecture scheme is completed by GMP, LDI is Tongji Design Institute, and the GC is China Construction No.8.

• Beijing Capital Steel Renovation project, Shijingshan District, Beijing. The project includes six independent plots (plot 738-***-***-*** 755 758) developed at the same time. It is a low-density old industrial reconstruction project that needs to preserve the historical style. It is also a national key project. Nearby is the big jump platform of 2022 Winter Olympic Games. It is jointly invested by Capital Steel Construction Investment Group and Tishman Speyer.The total base area is about 134,000 meters. Ground development area is about 170,000 square meters, gross underground construction area is about 36,000 square meters, the highest 40 meters, including office, commercial and so on. The architecture scheme is completed by CCTN, LDI is ZhuJing, and the GC is ShouGang Construction.

• Jiangwan F1E project, YangPu District, Shanghai. The base area is around 21,000 square meters. The project is invested by Junkang Insurance firm and it sits close to existed subway and Municipal culvert. GFA is 120,000 square meters, total CFA is around 170,000 square meters, and building height is 250 meters, including offices, commercial, opera, hotel etc. The architecture scheme is completed by Buro Ole Scheeren, LDI is Tongji Design Institute, and the GC is China Construction No.3.

SOHO China Ltd. Design Department, Shanghai, China (Sep, 2011 – Nov,2013) Structural Manager

Be responsible for organizing, examining and managing the whole process of structural design and construction, which includes: soil investigation, deep excavation and super-structure construction. The job duty contains: electing the architect, LDI, consults, contracts, assigning the design task, controlling the project time schedule, directing the drawing depth and rationality, and judging design &construction reversions, examining the contractor’s construction drawings, optimizing the design and construction scheme, supervising the construction quality, performing site visits, dealing with construction problems, etc., Be responsible for all kind of project reporting processes, and company’s standards preparation. Kept close communication with foreign architects and other consultants; managed all firms, such as structural consult firm, soil investigation firm, excavation design firm, super-structure design firm, the general contract and sub- contractor, and the other consultant firms. • Bund SOHO 204 lot of HuangPu District, Shanghai. This project locates close to the famous Shanghai Bund central business district and a historical protecting street, including office, business and entertainment components. The total area is around 200 thousand square meters. This project contains 7 independent high-rise buildings which share the same base, and the highest tower is 32 storied (135 meters). The job duty included managing the design and construction process of the deep excavation which is more than 20 meters depth with 4 underground floors, dealing with the sensitive settlement and displacement problems triggered by nearby subway and Bund tunnel, coordinating between all disciplines of the upper building with the soil retaining wall design, optimizing the special lagging removal strategy of retaining bracing for saving the construction time for two months. Meanwhile, helped super-structure designer to solve such technical difficulties as: expert examination for seismic design of tall building structures beyond the code-specification, related structural strengthen measurements, transfer beam’s opening cut, slope columns, transfer columns, crossing 2 story columns, staggered floors, huge opening floors, special joints details, the historical protecting neighbor building strengthening. Handled lots of design and field problems created by the architectural changing after the completion of all pile foundation construction. Be responsible for the related issues of all government examinations and field emergency situation handling. The architecture scheme is completed by GMP, LDI is East China General Design Institute, and the GC is Shanghai Construction No.1.

• FuXin Square SOHO Fuxin Road, Changning District Shanghai. This project locates at the ChangNing central business district, including office, business and entertainment components. The total area is around 150 thousand square meters. This project contains 4 independent high-rise buildings which share the same base, and the highest tower is 29 storied (120 meters). Before we purchased this project, it have been finished the CD, and east part has constructed to ground floor, the west parts still on basement level 5. Then we start a completely new design from SD, with the requirement not affecting the original time schedule; therefore, this project is a very famous tough project: construction, design, government examinations and revision, all happened simultaneously; the challenge is same as rebuild an existed building. The job duty is similar to Bund SOHO, plus: countless design revisions, existed structural reinforcing, beyond the code-specification’s expert seismic examination, lots of structure comprises for the curtain wall appearance effects. The architecture scheme is completed by GMP, LDI is East China General Design Institute, and the GC is LongYuan Construction.

• Hongkou SOHO No. 10 lot of Yangpu District, Shanghai. This project locates at the Hongkou central business district and close to a historical protecting building, including office, business and entertainment components. The total area is around 100 thousand square meters, and the No. 10 subway crosses the job site. The highest tower is 29 storied (135 meters). The job duty included coordinating the soil investigation firm to perform field work and soil report check, managing excavation design firm. Accomplished excavation design expert examination for safety and technical evaluation, and also Shanghai subway extremely strict technical scrutiny. Managed structural design firm, passed the expert examination for seismic design beyond the code-specification, the DD phase government evaluation, CD phase pile foundation government evaluation, etc. Coordinated with government officer regarding SD, DD, CD phases, and passed all the associated government’s administrative procedure. • Gubei SOHO CBD of Hongqiao District, Shanghai. This project locates at the most prosperous area of Hongqiao, including office, business and entertainment components. This project contains 2 independent high-rise buildings which share the same base with 4 sub-floors, and the highest tower is 40 storied (170 meters). We start the project from concept design; the job duty included evaluating all architects’ concept design, judging their feasibility and structural budget difference, electing LDI, structural consult firm, soil investigation firm, etc. Starting from SD phase to manage all design firms, and assist consult and LDI to deal with all technical problems. The architecture scheme is completed by Adjaye and KPF, LDI is Tongji Design Institute, and the GC is China Construction No.8. Symmes Maini & Mckee Associates, Inc., Cambridge, MA, USA (Mar, 2008 –May, 2011) Senior Project Manager (CALIFORNIA PE & SE, Member of SEAMASS) Designed new steel, concrete and masonry structures. Performed existed building’s evaluation, analysis, seismic upgrading, reporting and detailing to satisfy current code requirements. Applied RSS, RAM elements, RAM Advanse, RISA, TEDDS etc. software in the process of analysis; Complied with also the latest IBC code and local state codes. Obtained the California-SE License in 2008, which is the most challenge exam in USA.

• Armed Forces Reserve Center, Rutland, VT. Project Engineer responsible for the design of several buildings. Including coordination with all disciplines. Design included meeting Applied Special Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for design/build Department of Defense (DoD) projects including antiterrorism requirements as well as other 2006 IBC and UFC Army & Navy codes. Responsible for construction administration for the structural portion of the project including answering RFIs and reviewing submittals. Project done using Micro-station BIM system and achieved LEED Silver goal and also the “Excellent Design Awards” from USA Department of Defense.

• Armed Forces Reserve Center, White River Junction, VT. Project duties were identical to those for the AFRC, Rutland, VT listed above.

• Wellesley High School, Wellesley MA. Adopted RAM steel and RISA software to model a complicated 4-story steel-framed school. Solved many structural problems, such as: large span gymnasium, auditorium, and atrium, green roof and roof truss, lateral brace frame offset, special footing selection(to treat soft peat & hard rock combination site), and unique structural details, etc. This project wins Massachusetts “Outstanding Design” award, and also be granted as “American K-12 school template design”.

• Armed Forces Reserve Center, Ayer, MA. Structural Engineer responsible for the design of the Training Building and portions of other buildings (such as overhead crane structures) for a large 300,000 sf design/build Department of Defense (DoD) project. Adopted strict antiterrorism criterion and complied with several codes including the 7th edition of the MSBC, the 2006 IBC, and UFC Army & Navy codes. Used RSS to model snow drift, Pseudo-flexible Diaphragm, sloped roof etc. Performed diaphragm analysis for WL/EL transfer.

• Slavin Center New Entry, Providence, RI. Structural Engineer for a large glass enclosed entry for an existing student center building. The structure featured exposed-to-view tubular framing for the walls and roof and had multiple levels to add to the complexity of the design. Utilized RAM Advance to model the complicated 3D steel truss framing system. Complied with 2006 IBC and RI Building Code. Designed and detailed lateral force transfer between the new structure and existing building. This project wins Rhode Island “Outstanding Design” award.

• SINOVEL SL1500/82 Wind Turbine /MWRA Delauri Pump Station, Boston, MA. Performed Structural peer view for a 330’ wind tubular design. Reviewed code response spectrum dynamic seismic analysis, equipment period analysis, Europe fatigue analysis, RISA-2D single freedom pendulum sway analysis, tubular steel unique strength analysis, etc. on the large welded and bolted steel tower to accommodate extreme, buckling, and fatigue loads. Manual checked the soil tension and compression anchor proprietary design to meet footing uplift requirements.

• Shire 400 Patriot Way, Arlington, MA. Performed Structural peer view for a complicated 65’ steel building with plan and vertical irregularities: weak story, torsion, etc. Reviewed twice using 6th and 7th editions of the MA code. Corrected the undisclosed design problems, and achieved the original designer’s appreciation and praise from the city building inspection department.

• Cat Mgmt 9 Story Building, Boston, MA: Developed RAM model for a dual system building which combined steel MF and BF. Strictly controlled the lateral drift due to an existing adjacent building by adding transfer trusses at roof and adding additional MF. Adopted combine footings and grade beams to balance the over-turning moment.

• Bank of New York Mellon, Everett, MA: Responsible for the design of a large roof solar panel structural support system. Project received public recognition and has been praised by the Lieutenant Governor and the Mayor of Everett.

• MT Hope High School Assessment, Bristol, RI: Performed Structural evaluation and cost estimate for renovation of a 1960’s school.

• Renovations to Existing Buildings, MA, RI, VT, NH, NY & Other States. Performed numerous structural investigations and designed retrofits of existing buildings. For example: Added Side Plates/BM/Angles at BF Beam to satisfy the BF beam's weak axis torsion requirement and reinforcing of existing BM; designed mechanical pipe hangers from existing BM; evaluated existing Steel Bar Joist roofs; In-filled large slab openings in existing high-rise building; Analyzed existing 2-story truss; Retrofit design and seismic upgrade to a bank in Manhattan, NY, etc. Brandow & Johnston Inc., Los Angeles, CA, USA (Feb, 2007 – Mar, 2008) Project Manager (CALIFORNIA PE, Member of SEAoCA, CEESA and ASCE) Specialized on special hospital and school building analysis and design in high seismic areas. Designed concrete, steel, masonry, post tensioned concrete, and other complex structural systems to meet the OSHPD and DSA extraordinary stringent code requirements.

• Antelope Valley Hospital, Los Angeles, CA. Structural design and retrofit of a hospital. Adopted Steel Special Moment Frame lateral system to resist seismic force. Designed and detailed drag and chord members and their connections. Checked all horizontal and vertical seismic irregularities, and controlled the drift to meet up the code requirements. Applied Special MF RBS section for connection design per FEMA 350, later changed to special steel proprietary MF connection. Developed RAM steel model to analyze the building gravity and lateral system, and ETABS model to analyze two large canopies. Fulfilled all the calculations to meet OSHPD and ACI-05 chapter 21 special MF requirements.

• Garland Central Plant, Downtown Los Angeles, CA. Structural Engineer for a large mechanical cooling tower platform, which was lateral attaching to the existing concrete walls. Adopted steel horizontal braced frames to resist and transfer seismic Fp forces. Designed and detailed seismic restraints and supports for all kinds of equipment using both IBC2006 & UBC1997. Performed the analysis of two 100 tons cranes sitting on the existed frame system. Fulfilled all the plan check responses.

• South Park East School, Los Angeles, CA. Structural Engineer for the design of food service center using steel special brace frames on top of CMU shear walls. Applied Uniform Force Method for BF connection design. Adopt cantilever CMU walls and Pilasters to resist seismic force, as well as to meet the unique requirements of DSA.

• Scripps Memorial Hospital, San Diego, CA. Seismic evaluation and retrofit of five buildings for a 40 years old hospital, and the existing lateral system was composed of concrete and clay masonry walls, steel moment and brace frames. Complied with strict SB1953 evaluation criteria for this OSPDA project. Developed separate ETABS models for each building.

• Community Memorial Hospital, Ventura, CA. Performed structural retrofit for a hospital. Applied both UBC97 & IBC2006 for seismic design. Designed and detailed all heavy equipment seismic anchorages, as well as shear transfer between new framing and existed concrete shear walls. The WSP Cantor Seinuk Group Inc, New York, NY & Los Angeles, CA, USA (Apr, 2005 – Feb, 2007) Structural Project Engineer (CALIFORNIA PE, Member of SEAoCA, SEAoNY, AISC) Focus on high-rise steel structure and concrete flat slab analysis and design. Familiar with popular analysis software: Ram Structure System for steel design, Ram Concept for concrete design, RISA 3D for truss design, ETABS & SAP for Lateral seismic and wind load Analysis. • Lou Ruvo Medical/Museum, Las Vegas, NV. Project Engineer responsible for the structural design of a complicated Medical Building, as well as the fashion museum, kitchen and large curve trellis cover. The architect was well-known GEHRY PARTNERS, LLP.(Frek Gehry). Applied steel moment framing system at N-S direction, and braced framing at E-W direction for the main medical building. Developed a SAP model for the combination of three steel buildings, and applied seismic/wind linear dynamic analysis. Adopted RSS program for steel member gravity design. Fulfilled all the brace framing connections design, drag-chord members and their connections design, as well as gravity/MF/BF footings and consequently base plates design.

• East River Plaza, Manhattan, NY. Participated in the design of a large commercial structure. Phase I included 9 stories steel building with braced framing. Responsible for piles and mats foundation design for phase I, and also the pier on rock foundations design for future 39 stories hotel core tower (phase II). Developed Risa-3D model to design 26’ high, 144’ wide steel truss to support six floors load. Fulfilled the roof mechanical dunnage system design.

• Lexington Avenue, Manhattan, NY. Participated in the design of a 19 floors concrete building. Responsible for concrete flat slab design using Ram Concept Strip Method, Ram Concept section method, and PC-Slab strip method, as well as the comparison among them. Performed the analysis of the 2nd 54” transfer floor slab, and designed other floor slabs with multiple openings, walking columns, slab drops. Checked the punch shear capacity, and the two way deflection of the slabs.

• Park West Village, Manhattan, NY. Participated in the design of the concrete flat floor slabs and mat foundation of a 32 story residential tower with two story underground parking. B&B Associates, Los Angeles and Pasadena, CA, USA (Jan, 2003 – Apr, 2005) Project Manager (CALIFORNIA PE, Member of SEAoCA)

Designed light gage steel, concrete, post tensioned concrete, pre-cast panels, masonry, wood and other structural systems using UBC1997, IBC2000 and IBC2003, including pure cold-formed steel storages, pre-cast concrete shear wall panels, wood office and residence, light gage steel/wood trusses, post-tensional slab on grade, etc. In particular, light gage steel design of this firm won high reputation among local design industry.
