LABORER: As a current AOC employee I collect recyclable construction materials, such as concrete, drywall, plastics, or wood, into containers. Sort materials, such as metals, glass, wood, paper or plastics, into appropriate containers for recycling and deposit recoverable materials into chutes or place materials on conveyor belts. I utilize requests generated through the work order system WebTMA to clean work areas, vacuum, and dust the members’ offices as requested. I operate shredders to reclaim steel from discarded appliances, and recycling equipment. I also disperse salt for snow removal.
SUPERVISION: I read work orders or receive oral instructions from my supervisor to determine work assignments and material or equipment needs. I report all discrepancies to my supervisor for accurate record keeping and proper training if necessary. I report assignment numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets from the WebTMA.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: I Clean, inspect, or lubricate recyclable collection equipment or perform routine maintenance or minor repairs on recycling equipment, such as star gears, finger sorters, destoners, belts, and grinders. I manually position receptacles, such as bins, carts, or containers, so they can be loaded. I move stock and other materials to and from storage containers by hand or using hand trucks. I wash out cargo containers and storage areas. I also carry needed tools or supplies from storage to work assignments and return them after use. Load materials into production equipment.
DEXTERITY AND SAFETY: As a current AOC employee I have work on The Congressional Transition helping to move members of Congress from one location to another by lifting boxes, personal property like computers, lap Tops, lamps etc and securely placing or stacking them to prevent injury during transport on a flat cart or moving bin. I also Extract chemicals from discarded appliances, such as air conditioners or refrigerators, using specialized machinery, such as refrigerant recovery equipment.
I am actively engaged in the daily Safety Briefing everyday often asking questions for clarity and have an excellent personal safety record.
WORK PRACTICES: I help keep storage areas organized and track cleaning supplies for reporting to supervisor when inventory is getting low. I clean recycling yard by sweeping, raking, picking up broken glass and loose paper debris, or moving barrels and bins.
