Introduction
I started in 2005 as a temporary worker, I was later hired on in 2006.
As a dock worker my job was pretty much everything. When driving the forklift I loaded and unloaded trucks, I also manually placed trucks on the dock's doors with a yard mule and removed them. Assigned trailers in the yard directing them to the proper location, depending on if they were full or empty and directing them where to take their paperwork. As an operation manager I trained people on how to build pallets, pull product off the belt, and how to load and unload trailers. I trained switcher drivers for them to obtain their class A CDL license. I made sure that everybody was implementing safe work practices. I completed individual assessments (of each employee’s work habits) making the necessary corrections if needed. I had to ensure that everything was in its place and everything that was trashed and was disposed of or recycled (i.e cardboard and pallets) at the end of each day. My least favorite task was completing disciplinary actions for attendance write-ups. We had to perform the counseling, however eventually that responsibility was taken over by HR.
