Assisted in the initial specifications and design of this large database and content management system. Lead Systems Developer, STARCUT WIRELESS, New York, NY, 2008-2010 Worked with small team of motivated developers to support mobile sites for many media and publishing company. Used Java/JSP to bring CNBC and NBC websites to the mobile devices. Lead Systems Developer, CRISP WIRELESS, New York, NY, 2007-2008 Lead a team that developed WAP sites for various clients: NPR and cars.com and CityGuide These websites are specially designed for phone access and the process involves device detection and categorizing each access device as Very High, High, Medium, Low, and Very Low in function. The page presented to the device is tailored for the device based on the user-agent. The backend content management system breaks all content into its component parts and stores them as assets in a staging table. The assets have profiles which are groups of attributes. The assets can be organized in different categories. Also a group of categories are stored in a catalog. Using this infrastructure you can create a published table which brings all the components into one place for faster access. Therefore, development, test, and production can easily be organized.

More Experience

Lead Systems Developer, RAVE WIRELESS, New York, NY, 2004-2007 Lead a team that built website for computer and phone access at www.getRave.com Worked on all aspects of the project from client side and server side, database setup, to Tomcat servlet, classes, jsp page creation. Wrote jsp java database system to tie into local google to track you and give you info about local restaurants or anything of interest. Wrote a email alert system to notify you of important email via text message. Helped new employees with orientation of new systems. Access to mappoint via web service from java. Lead Systems Developer, GOLDMAN SACHS, New York, NY, 1999-2004 Built secure on-line web system for trading stock. See e redi (The system requires a userid and password.) For demo, see e redi Applet allows access to real-time quotes, gives user ability to buy, sell, and short stocks. System uses a Java applet front end and specialized HTTP Web Server (written in C++) on the backend. The Web Server acts a proxy for web clients. TIBCO Rendezvous, a middleware package is used for communication between data feeds and web proxy. The server listens on TIBCO Rendezvous bus for broadcasted stock quotes and personal information such as trades and profile data and pushes requested information to client. All personal information is encrypted using an optimized SSL protocol. The session key exchange uses RSA public and private key encryption. The persistent data is stored in Sybase database and trades are cleared using IBM mainframes. Built an on-line web system to access the REDIBook ECN real-time quotes.

Converted online trading system to C# .NET platform. Project uses .NET DataSet and DataTable objects to create in-memory SQL database. Project paved way for multiple applications to move to .NET platform. This project was client side development using Visual Studio .NET. The resultant EXE file could be installed on the client machine as an application or run from a web server as a Win32 Net Smart Program. The beauty of this is that the program can use the full power of the rich Windows API and at the same time be deployed using the simple and straightforward mechanisms that already exist for Web pages. Managed a project to replace an outdated web server with a new highly secure web server. This web server was written from scratch because of the specialized needs of our application. This project was under strict deadlines and it was delivered on time (designed, coded, and tested) by a small group of excellent programmers and testers. This work was all done on an AIX Unix machine with C++ and follows the HTTP standards.

Systems Developer, CON EDISON, New York, NY, 1997-1999 Developed power distribution systems monitoring project. Developed a real-time expert system to monitor electrical network outages. The system alerts the operator when a component is overloaded. The system is also used for planning the needs of the future. Systems Developer, NYNEX, New York, NY, 1994-1997

Part of the Online Provisioning Project. Developed tools for system administration. Maintaining multiple sites. Responsibilities include Web Performance Analysis Tool, AIX system administration, Sybase administration, Tuxedo administration, Security issues and technical support for user community.

Systems Developer, GOLDMAN SACHS, New York, NY, 1994 Advisory Engineer, IBM, New York, NY, 1984-1994

● Developed the IBM TCP/IP product for OS/2. Created the Network File System (NFS), Telnet, and Serial Line Internet Protocol (SLIP) applications. This project required an intimate knowledge of the OS/2 file system and specifications. Developed applications on AIX to exercise and test the OS/2 applications.

● Developed AIX programs to track machine usage.

● Developed parts of the OS/2 Enhanced System Editor (EPM.EXE). Designed and created the EPM Rexx interface. This allows one to program the editor. Created the editor proofreading support. Created the editor command shell interface. This allows one to execute OS/2 commands within the editor.

● Developed a C++ LAN file distribution and automation application. The product is called IBM NetDoor. It is part of the IBM Networking product line. The system eases the job of the LAN administrator by keeping files servers synchronized, updating the end users’ workstation with the latest configuration, providing access to many internal and vendor tools. The advantage is that each user need not maintain a set of tools on their personal disk. The LAN administrator need not copy files from server to server. Supports High Availability and Load Balancing.

● Supported users via internal electronic discussion groups called "Fora". Supported external users via Usenet News in the comp.os2.* newgroups. Used archie and anonymous FTP to solve problems.

● As Team Leader, I designed, developed and supported a Presentation Manager calendar application used widely for internal scheduling. The calendar was used for personal and group schedules. Generated Postscript output. Good working knowledge of Postscript.

● Designed graphical interfaces for IBM chip failure analysis. This was done in C. It included algorithms to recognize patterns in the failure data. The pattern matching technology used recursive algorithms to increase the simplicity and beauty of the program.

● Designed networking tools for communication between various chip test hardware and the IBM personal computer.

● Created many programs for OS/2 and DOS such as GREP (regular expression file text search), disk usage programs.

Interest include analysing open government data. See https://tax.tidalforce.org/ a web application that allows you to plot your property data against other properties to help with property purchasing and selling. Other Interests include video processing, video/YouTube editing, computer vision (auto labelling of face in video) (one application would be to label all public government videos with who is speaking so people can learn what their representative is saying and how their representative is voting), mobile applications, cloud based server applications, cloud based database. Google AppEngine and Heroku are good examples of cloud based frameworks. Interest in Python (AppEngine), Ruby (Rails/Heroku). Database independence. Also the ability to use Relational and non relational databases is important. For mobile applications, it is key to support both offline and online access. A good example of this is Gmail. An application that works no matter what condition the user and device is in. My applications are also designed to handle the rough conditions of the mobile world. Ralph Yozzo: A Profile
