Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my interest in the position of Assessment and Evaluation Data Entry Office Assistant at WSU. I have a very unique professional origin story. I started in cancer research after receiving my degree in microbiology and chemistry at the Portland Providence Earl Chiles Research Institute. In fact, I was hired before I even completed my last quarter in school by Dr. Hong-Ming Hu. I was listed in publication while working in labs at Oregon State University as well as published in my professional career at the Cancer Research Institute. I loved the intellectual stimulation and the challenge of solving a meaningful problem. However… cells don't have conversations and I like hearing from various points of views and conducting conversations. I also like measurable progress and success. While by all research means I was very successful, it is possible in research land to work on a project your whole life and never have it "work" the way it should.
So I went home, I had a few kids, 4 of them in fact. I was bored. I started helping out my friends and church with event projects and cooking and baking to keep my chemistry brain engaged. All this helping turned into a job lead for database management for an Estate Liquidation Company that sold estate items via virtual 3D tours. They sold all over the world and had a HUGE need for someone to manage their database and CRM. Between the estate liquidation position and my work in research I have over 10 years of experience in database management and a strong background in data entry so I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your team, particularly in handling sensitive student assessment data and supporting the Evaluation Unit as outlined in the job description. I live miles away with no connection to students so confidentiality is not an issue at all. Now, I am raising four amazing kids that are all in school and I am looking for a steady, busy, work from home, but sometimes escape-to-chat-with-adults position. I live a few hours South of campus, but my step-son lives in Spokane, so I do make my way up there often and like any excuse to stop in and have lunch with him.
I possess a strong set of skills including data entry, organizational skills, and database management. Additionally, my personal strengths as a communicative, problem-solving, and detail-oriented individual will allow me to support the WSU team in building surveys, proofreading documents, and maintaining the integrity of the data management system. I am particularly drawn to this position at WSU because of the opportunity it presents to engage in meaningful work that supports educational assessments and evaluations. Obviously, with my background I will also live and breathe academia. I am eager to bring my expertise in data management and my personal dedication to detail to WSU, contributing to the effectiveness and success of your team. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can contribute to your team.

From thumbnail photographs of each item
to be sold, I carefully cataloged everything

detailed descriptions and history of each

funds would distribute to. I had to build
the platform from the ground up in
NetSuite. I also built out and maintained
their CRM in Sugar.
