Over the past 6 years I have worked in a special education environment consisting of teens to young adults in group homes. Assisted in instructional aides 1:1 enhanced observation specialist assessment for the variety of personalities and behaviors I encounter. While working in special education environment I find my passion to work with students that have development disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder and behavioral and emotional issues. Through my new find passion of working with behaviors I have since obtained a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and working towards my master’s in arts of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Instructional Aide 1:1

I worked with students that have autism spectrum disorder and have an Induvial Education Plan (IEP) or Behavior Induivial Plan (BIP). While working with these students I have used behavior strategies with the use of positive behavioral support. One of my other duties is to run small groups with my students as well as collected data. On a daily bases I also deal with sever behavior with my students. Paraprofessional /After School Teacher

While I worked at this school as a paraprofessional, I worked with a 1:1 who had elopement behavior. The students that I worked with also had IEP or was on a BIP. When I instructed small groups, I work with the students on their academic work. When I switch to the after-school teacher, I was in charge of 25 students. One of my duties was to write up lesson plans and teach them to the students. While doing this job I had to commutate with the parents and the community when we had field trips.

One of my main duties of this job was to supervised the children. I had to transport the children to school, doctor appointments and other events. Sometimes the children would elope from the home or if we were out in the community, so I had to deal with law enforcement and then call the guardian to notify that their child elope. Some of these children did have sever behaviors along with psychiatric conditions. While working at this job we did have month meeting for training.
