EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Second shift production supervisor
Fiberon PE manufacturing - FBIN (North Carolina) Feb 2024 - Present
Responsible to the Production Manager across the shift consisting 30+ associates who are charged with running 13 plastic extrusion lines producing composite decking boards. A highly labor intensive industry saw me learn the entire process from operator to quality inspector to finally shipping a finished product.
Following similar measurable KPI that are common throughout Fortune Brands Innovations I worked alongside engineers and auditors to ensure my daily Metrix were met and exceeded.
My daily tasks were to ensure the safety of Fiberon associates, ensure workplace safety guidelines were adhered to, maintain a robust quality initiative and ensure production totals are met for the shift.
Second shift production supervisor
The Masterlock Company – FBIN (Wisconsin) Sept 2022 – Feb 2024
Responsible to the Focus Factory Manager across the shift consisting 4 separate departments of skilled tradesmen and machine operators. Working cross functionally with 1st and 3rd shift to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes including :-
Safety which is at the forefront of my daily routine and through rigorous checks, Kamishibai audits and huddle points, I drove down recordable incidents and during my tenure at TMLC my departments incurred no lost time injuries.
Quality is another metric in which I excelled with Masterlock, rigorous gauging checks and adhering to a strict QWI compliance saw MRB fall from $946k to approx $77k within 18 months.
Delivery saw my workload vary to meet seasonal volatility. To combat this ‘ebb and flow’ I prioritized production to meet customer needs thus eliminating stockpiling unnecessary product.
Cost had me meet or exceed departmental Earned Hours targets and maintain a 100% production cycle.
Second shift maintenance supervisor
Advanced Disposal / Green for life (GFL) Environmental Nov 2015 – Sept 2022
I was directly accountable to the maintenance manager for all aspects of shift production. The 100+ fleet of solid waste vehicles must operate daily to the highest standards set by State and Federal laws.
I managed a shift of 10 personnel - 6 GFL technicians, 4 third party technicians and a utility person. I also had oversight of 5 technicians working day shift.
I ensured all safety conditions were met and exceeded to provide the most productive environment for workshop employees. To reinforce this I carried out weekly and monthly workshop safety tours and daily I-Cares on personnel.
I was the focal point for all inventory received by the site, averaging $40,000 per month, including checking items in, correct storage, billing out stock per repair orders and liaising with third party vendors on viable stock availability, pricing and receipt.
I used various programs inc. M5 Asset works and DOSSIER as my main fleet management tools, ensuring complete capture of all truck data. i.e. PM duration, tech hours, repair orders, truck parts and fueling.
HM FORCES (ARMY) - Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Apr 1989 - Dec 2014
Artificer Sergeant Major (ASM) / (Senior Sergeant Major) Jul 2010 – Dec 2014
Responsible to my Commanding Officer for delivering safe, effective equipment and competent, motivated tradesmen, thus ensuring all objectives were met.
As ASM I was the single point of contact regarding all engineering management, repair and modification issues concerning a fleet of over 150 vehicles and over 200 pieces of miscellaneous engineer equipment.
Instrumental in forging and maintaining a coherent special forces trained, bonded workforce of varying trade groups and abilities that were robustly managed in order to maintain a high level of operational readiness.
Subject matter expert in all aspects of Equipment support, pulling on substantial experience, advising the chain of command on any issues relating to equipment capability.
Applied LEAN principles to minimize waste and maximize productivity. This ‘work smarter, not harder’ principle has been at the forefront of my approach to automotive engineering management, namely in Afghanistan where as Officer Commanding, Engineer Group light aid detachment, I ensured all major wastes - namely inventory, motion and waiting - were eliminated.
Acted as Unit Safety Officer to over 400 people working in a very active environment, providing advice on Health & Safety matters relating to specific procedures and introduced safe systems of work practices.
Instrumental in planning large overseas deployments which saw me command a workforce of approx. 20 engineers maintaining a vast and diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment.
