Work History
Electrical Apprentice
MasTec Canada
Saddle Hills
We were working on the new construction sister compressor to the existing compressor. Here I did grounding and bonding from ground grids to mezzanine stair access platforms as well as support beams. I also ground buildings to the ground grids. In between this we did several large cable pulls ini between several of the buildings. I was also asked to seal openings for preservation purposes. I was also in charge of the C-can and inventory. During this time I was stripping cabling for reprocessing.
Electrician Apprentice
Custom Electric Ltd.
Amazon Warehouse
Although Custom is a Calgary based company they picked up the Amazon warehouse in Acheson. When I started they had about of the conveyor belt installed. my first task was to wire in motor control boxes. Wiring was already pulled through to controller itself so I was simply terminating in the control box. I would then go to the motor side and terminate in the pecker heads. At this point i was sent to another floor to run emt down the line stopping with a 4x4 at every motor. It was at this point I was asked to teach some other apprentices how to form up wide radius 90’s. I also mounted more control boxes, sensor boxes and vibration control boxes.I also hilti drilled strut support into the floor and installed ESD’s. In the next section we started by installing basket tray under the conveyor itself. in the basket we installed 1”emt and mounted 4x4’s along the line.On one side of the tray we ran a 4” raceway the full length of the belt.A after this we pulled the wire to terminated in the motor pecker heads, so as to have no splices in the 4x4’s.
Electrician, Apprentice
Territorial Electric
U of A
This job was located in the dentistry and pharmacy building. It was both a renovation and a new construction build.the renovation was on the existing building on all floors. The new construction was an 8 floor building behind the existing building and both were married together electrically.
In the reno section I was drilling holes through masonry, brick walls. I then bent and minted boxes for the A/V units. I also ran B/X (sometimes through emt)for switching, receptacles, and control wiring. We would color code all connectors and couplings to the appropriate circuits.
In the new build I was assigned to work in the e-rooms.In the rooms we would mount CDP’s, breaker boxes and high voltage disconnects.we would then mount strut to the walls and run emt between appropriate panels. We built supports for hanging support for transformers. We also installed square raceway for the transformers. I then installed all the breaker guts for each box. After e-rooms reached a certain point I then went out on the floor to help with the pull packages through their proper emt’s.This was during covid, however vaccines onsite was never required.
Electrician, Apprentice
Techmation Electric & Control
Saturn Gas Plant
After I was hired Out of Red Deer, I was flown up to Fort St. John and driven into location. At this time I was chosen to do the pre-comm team, but due to the shortage of work I was briefly assigned to the QA team and went through systems to check for completion and function.
I then went back to the pre-comm team and did a pretest with the client and initialized the system. We worked on several systems and the first train I was sent over to head the deficiencies and repair systems in need. My team also did final clean ups in areas that need it.
I then moved on to the next train and was charge with looking after a team installing safety sensors and headed a group working with welders. Finally I was sent to the true up team where I largely work on my own counts. After the Xmas season I was inform that I was laid off. I believe I was a great asset to the project.
Electrical Apprentice
URS/Flint
TCPL\GRP Heartland Terminal
I went to the E-house crew and was started immediately on glanding cables, both into the MCC’s and the E-house itself. After we had sufficient cables glanded I then began to cut in and terminate these cables into all the appropriate MCC’s.
