Socrates Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:SOCT) acquired Object Application Systems, Inc. (OAS) in March 2000. OAS was an ERP software company that had developed a windows-based ERP software system that was written in Powerbuilder.

Responsibilities included:

The development of a barcode data collection system that had three separate subsystems. The first subsystem involved a DOS-based program written in VC++ 1.52 that was installed in a Norand 6400 terminal that was used to scan and collect data from barcode labels. The scanned data was then transmitted via radio frequency through a Norand 6710 access point to a TCP/IP network. The second subsystem involved a TCP/IP server written in VC++ 6.0 that “listened” to a particular port. The TCP/IP server received data from 6400 terminal and stored the data in a SQLAnywhere database using ODBC. In the third subsystem, a replication process was used to send and receive data in SQLAnywhere database to/from the main database, which could be either Sybase System 11 or Microsoft SQL Server 6.5. A COM object utilizing ODBC was developed to handle the replication process.

The development of an OCX object that transformed job scheduling information related to machines into a graphical user representation. Machines were scheduled by job based upon data is stored in database tables. This object read the data from the table and let user specify a date range so that it graphically rendered each scheduled job in different colors according to a user defined timeline. The OCX was integrated into a PowerBuilder program which rendered the graphical representations.

Creation of a screen capture and email program. This screen capture program was a supplemental program of a major application that was written with Powerbuilder. The screen capture program could be called by the e-mail script to capture the current screen and save in a bitmap file. Then Microsoft Mail was initiated to attach this bitmap file to e-mail and then sent to the destination.

Lead programmer in the development of a sophisticated client/server application for the process manufacturing industry. This application was developed with PowerBuilder using the Power Tool base library, Sybase System 11 and Microsoft SQL Server databases. The main functions of the application included customer order processing, inventory control, invoicing, purchase order and work order processing and also a financial subsystem including accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger.

Rewrote all triggers and stored procedures in an inventory database system. The main function of those triggers and stored procedures was to control database transactions, enforce referential integrity and to calculate derivative values.
