•XBOX Live: Insights Data Warehouse (OLTP, OLAP, SSIS, PowerBI, SSAS). Cut ETL runtime by 50%. Pinpointed data problems and devised solutions, which enabled 3 more KPI’s and a 25% increase in targeted marketing.

Customer & Subscriber: Volunteered to improve the Data Quality, which had been attempted 3 times before, without success. Eliminated ~20M rows of bad data.

Redesigned processes to take better advantage of teammates’ expertise. Migrated to VSTF platform, which enabled proper branching, deployment, and testing.

Optimized the 10 Tb+ Data Warehouse (OLTP & OLAP) with better indexing, code refactoring, data partitioning.

•Financial: Designed performance solutions for the EXTRA financial app and metadata source change from Excel to MDM. Discussed vision and strategy with EDW stakeholders and presented solution concepts, including a Business Rules Engine model (OLTP) and application upgrade/migration plan to support server consolidation.

•5-month contract to create a new Inspection Data Collection application on SQL Server (OLTP) and .NET platform, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, data migration, to consolidate 3 databases into one.

Sr. BI Architect Microsoft 2007 - 2008

•Window Genuine Advantage group needed a BI expert to improve their Business Intelligence reporting.

•Saved $100M directly and $400M indirectly in the Anti-Piracy program, with more accurate and timely reporting of pirated product keys.

•Refactored the Data Warehouse (OLTP), fixed SQL code, added performance features.

•Produced a very high-performance ETL in SSIS to aggregate Windows and Office installation data that could processes 100’s of Millions of rows in minutes.

•Architected 3 Cumulative Installation Cubes (OLAP) in SSAS for XP, Vista, and Office installation data to combat piracy and provide valuable, actionable Business Intelligence about buying and usage patterns.

•Developed new reports, fixed existing ones, and facilitated the transition to the Cumulative Installation Cubes (OLAP) as data sources for all reporting.

•The previous successes led to another: pulling Windows Telemetry data from SQL Server 2000 (OLTP), converting raw data into a new schema, de-duplicating it, and storing it on a new server (OLTP), which I also built.
