Vendors will bring in non-hospital owned products for use in surgical cases.
Adds items to SMART through the VIRA process to ensure supplies are set up with billing codes within 72 hours of discharge.
Responsible to ensure items are built in SMART and Meditech.
Remains in constant daily contact with the facility billing specialist to ensure patients receive charges for products used in the surgery.
Oversees all processes and ensures new vendor-owned products (bill only) are built in SMART through the VIRA process and Meditech for patient charging.
The ORICC must keep track of all Bill Only and Bill and Replace requisitions that they were unable to create a PO for that month. At months end, the ORICC gathers all vendor invoices that have no PO and forward those to the Director of Supply Chain

Surgery Tech/ Central Sterile
Unloads dirty case carts and prepares instruments, supplies, and equipment for decontamination. Decontaminates instruments, supplies, and equipment per manufacturer's instructions and departmental policies and procedures. Inspects decontaminated items for cleanliness and damages. Tests decontaminated items to ensure proper functioning prior to sterilization.
Handles items carefully and prevents damage to delicate instruments. Identifies broken, damaged instruments and malfunctioning equipment and removes them from service. Communicates items removed from service to the Central Sterile Processing Coordinator promptly.
Identifies proper method of sterilization per item to be sterilized. Prepares and assembles instruments, supplies, and equipment per the proper method of sterilization. Selects and uses packaging and wrapping materials and container systems for methods of sterilization and aseptic presentation.
Performs correct biological monitoring and testing per method of sterilization. Recognizes positive test results of biological monitoring and immediately re-challenges sterilizer. Communicates positive test results to the healthcare team and declares the method of sterilization unsafe for use.
Inspects and cleans steam sterilizers on a routine basis.
