Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping, piping systems and supports, fixtures and equipment for industrial piping systems on basis of knowledge of system operation and study of building plans and working schematics. This includes carbon steel, stainless steel, and PVC systems

Direct and train pipefitter helpers to perform pipe fitter job functions

Uphold and advocate strong safety guidelines when performing job functions

Perform craft mathematical functions to adhere to specific schematics and pipe fitting measurements

Read and interpret pipe blueprints, and isometric drawings

Grind and clean pipe and fittings prior to fit-up and tacking

Make fits on pipe spools and straight run pipe at field weld locations

Erect pipe, and pipe spools using cranes, chain falls, come-alongs, air tuggers and other hoisting devices

Rig loads to be hoisted into position

Demolition of piping systems or portions of piping systems using air saws, reed cutters, band saws, etc.

Measure and cut pipe for fabrication using beveling machines, porta-band saws or other cutting devices

Remove and/or install bolted connections in piping systems

Prepare piping systems for hydrotest including installation/removal of isolation blinds for hydro or hot work requirements

Assist welders, helpers, operators, firewatch/holewatch in preparation of worksite for obtaining work permits

Assist in moving material to/from worksite and in maintaining good housekeeping practices

Fabrication of threaded piping systems and/or components, steam tracing. PVC pipe, etc.

Set-Up and operate oxy-acetylene torch for heating and cutting

Identify and discriminate cutting and welding gases

Set-up and purge stainless steel pipe

Give crane and heavy equipment hand signals

•Perform any combination of duties to assist workers in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc cutting activities such as moving work pieces, tools, and supplies, lift, move and hold, or clamp work piece to table, into jigs, or into position as directed, manually or by using hoist, pry bars, wrenches, hammer, and wedges
