I am one of the board members of a small group of church members who volunteered our time and resources to provide for the homeless, primarily those who have substance abuse problems. The organization is called Outreach for Jesus Ministry. We provide a home-cooked meal for them once a month, and they are given care packages every season. We started in March 1999.
