Phyl’s Furniture Connexion: December 13, 2013 to July 31st 2024 (10 years)

Sales associate: The name of the mother company is called Porter Design and is located in Portland, Oregon. Our store, here in Olympia, WA was called Phyl’s Furniture Connexion, after the old “Phyl’s” who still own the building. Their other store is in Gresham, Oregon and is called Furniture Connexion, without he “Phyl’s”. Our Olympia store chose to go out of business because the owners of our leased building are selling it. They were absolutely wonderful to work for and the majority of the furniture was excellent quality especially our solid wood products in Sheeshan which is a very hard wood from the Himalayas of India. The various products, occasional tables, bedroom and dining were made in India by various artisans. I have sold furniture all my life, I love furniture and I love all kinds of people. I was always one of the highest volume sales people and I developed many repeat customers throughout the years.

Phvl's Furniture: Feb. 2004 to Dec. 1901 2012. (Eight and a half years) Salesperson: I loved my job, the people I worked, with and my customers. Most months I was top in sales. Unfortunately, after 38 years, they have gone out of business. I sold and ordered all kinds of furniture, input sales, handled money, enjoyed customer service, and looked forward to every day's challenges.

Krause's Custom Crafted Furniture: Nov. 1987 to Oct. 2001 (Fourteen years total) Sales Manager for 5 years: This was a chain of 100 furniture stores that manufactured custom upholstered furniture. I was a salesperson in Modesto, California and later transferred to Washington where I managed their Tacoma and Silverdale stores each of which did 1.5 to 3.5 million dollars per year. Krause's home office was in Brea CA. They went out of business in 2001.

MSN: Medical Staffing Network: Jan. 2003 to Jan. 2004. C.N.A. I worked on an "on call" basis in such hospitals as Capital Medical Center in Olympia and a couple of Long term Care Centers.

Dr. Jonathan A. Gold MD Mountain View Women's Health Center: Feb. 2002 to Mar. 2003. Back office assistant Duties included: patient interview and intake, patient charting, vitals, lab result distribution, dysphasia tracking and follow-up, scheduling, medical assisting, inventory/stocking and ordering of medical supplies, phlebotomy, phone triage, clerical duties, computer input, bone scans, non-stress tests and more.

In home care for "Rose" under the care of Dr. Eric J. Klein, M.D.: July 1997 to Sept. 2004. In home duties included full care for a patient with severe Alzheimer's who was confined to bed or wheelchair. I fed, showered, transferred, and changed her dressings for 8 years until she passed away at age 96 in September of 2004.

In home care for "Mavis" under her th, son and my professor Dr. Stephen Fulton, M.D.: Oct. 2001 to Jan. 2002. C.N.A. Duties included transfers, care of removable femur cast, meals, light housekeeping, bathroom, showering, transportation to the store and doctor and some over night care for this 78 year old female until she was able to be on her own.

Education:

+South Puget Sound Communitv College: Medical terminology, abnormal psychology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, interpersonal psychology, college writing, speech, and phlebotomy. I was preparing to be admitted to the nursing program, but only 15 spaces existed and then I ran out of time and money (i.e. Worksource) after taking all of the prerequisites. So I became a C N A but have not kept up the certification as I prefer sales.

+01ympic college: Pharmaceuticals for medical assistants, ICD-9 coding, medical terminology, and medical insurance. I was preparing to become a medical assistant in a doctor's office. I got a promotion to be a manager at my work (Krause's Custom Crafted Furniture) and needed to put all of my efforts into my job.

+CA State University at Northridge: English and Science major. I attended for one and a half years, but did not graduate as I was married and had to work full time to help my husband graduate. I was unable to go back.

+LA Pierce Junior College: English, Music and Science major. I attended two years taking my prerequisites for CSUN. I only needed two more classes to obtain my associates degree, but decided to go straight on to CSUN to get my BA

Personal information

I have a daughter and three grand children who live out of state. At his point I am enjoying my independence. That said, I am not particular about my work hours although I do have some preferences. I definitely would like full time.
