•Expert mechanical design and documentation (close-tolerance machining, sheet metal, castings, injection molding, thermal pressure molding, rotomolding, etc.), and also PWB design.
•Thoroughly knowledgeable of manufacturability and inspectability criteria for various metal and plastics forming processes
•Machine design, product design and technical writing experience spanning many years
•Expert in interpretation and practical use of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME/ANSI Y-14.5).
•Expert level proficiency with SolidWorks. Also have some experience with AutoDesk Inventor and capable with AutoCAD. Very experienced with translation from 2D CAD to 3D model and vice versa.
•PWB design using OrCAD and other tools.
•Expert electrical/mechanical drawing checking (approximately 8 years experience, dedicated as well as part of other duties at several companies and in consulting work)
•Expert on compliance with military standards/specifications for engineering documentation in general
•Creation/administration of document control and configuration management systems for engineering drawings, specifications and software

I did customization, sizing and configuration for all kinds of equipment on all kinds of presses and press lines with factory layout of this equipment.
Profero Systems, Inc – Dallas, NC (http://www.proferosystems.com/) March ’06 – September ‘09: Mechanical Engineer: Only mechanical design person in this small OEM of machinery for the corrugated paperboard industry.
Georgia Tech Research Institute, Electronics Systems Lab - Atlanta, GA (http://www.gtri.gatech.edu/) May ’96 – July ‘00: Mechanical Engineer II: Head of a technical support group which included bench technicians, mechanical designers and a PWB layout person. Documentation control and software configuration management, mechanical design and drawing checking. Specialist in defense electronics technical data packages (TDPs).
Vista 2000, Inc. - Marietta, GA (company now out of business) Feb ‘95 - May ‘96: Printed Circuit Designer / Mechanical Designer: Design to manufacture for high-volume commercial electronics company. Included plastic injection molding using AutoCAD and PCB design on OrCAD and EE Designer.
Healthdyne Technologies - Marietta, GA (now Matria, Inc., http://www.matria.com/) Feb ‘91 - June ‘94: Printed Circuit Designer / Product Designer: Projects included complex injection molding and E/M packaging design, thermal-pressure molding, sheet metal hospital equipment, PCB design. Duties included selecting mechanical and electrical components/materials for new products, technical writing, generating Gerber files from PCB databases, manufacturing liaison, maintenance of inventory database which included materials planning logistics and BOM's for all project assemblies.
Electromagnetic Sciences, Inc. - Norcross, GA (now EMS Technologies, http://www.ems-t.com/) Nov ‘88 - June ‘90: Manager, Configuration Management: Promoted from prior position (following). Established and administered company policy relative to document control/ configuration management system. Interpreted contract requirements and made policy relative to same. Supervised CM technicians and clerical personnel. Interfaced with customers in audits, design reviews and on proposals. Wrote and maintained specifications, plans, proposals and procedures. Chaired all company and program Change Control Boards
Dec ‘87 - Oct ‘88: Senior Design Checker (also at Electromagnetic Sciences): Checked documentation for adherence to contract requirements, company standards, "fit", parts and material selection, etc., with an emphasis on manufacturability and inspectability criteria. Largely responsible for present company-wide use and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Chief responsibility for liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.
Rockwell International, Missile Systems Division - Duluth, GA (no longer a business unit), March ‘84 - Nov ‘87: Engineering Drawing Checker: Duties very similar to those listed above: checked drawings, specifications and change paper. Chiefly responsible for documentation adherence to contract requirements (typically DoD-D-1000, Level 3), "fit", parts and material selection, etc., with emphasis on producibility and inspectability.

Partial list of clients follows (all refer to contract design project activities). These have all been short term contract or consulting work and should be considered to explain any apparent gaps in employment from above.
