Environmental Protection Specialist, United States Air Force May 2017 – Present

Serves as the focal point for assigned programs when environmental regulatory personal, such as Georgia EPD visit and inspect the installation.

Effectively represent the 78th CEG for at least 85% of environmental inspections in assigned programs, such as water permits, and provide regulatory citations and interpretations as necessary.

Assist with work orders involving tree issues. Perform site visit, assess trees, advised proponent on proper action required by the Natural Resources Program Manager.

Perform BASH monitoring. Report hazardous issues to Natural Resources Program Manager immediately such as bird, wildlife issues on flight line.

Track and Report other BASH issues that don't cause an immediate concern within a 2 day period.

Provide expertise in area of SPCC compliance during internal and external environmental inspections. Assist with field visits to perform inspections or provide regulatory citations, interpretations as necessary.

Assist with proper oversight of weirs including boom placement and water levels, and coordinate with CE Horizontal Shop if wood debris or trash inhibits flow.

Maintain influent locations from the City, removing or coordinating removal of trash and debris.

Participated in audits to conduct inspections of installation facilities and operations annually to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations. Assisted in properly developing and conducting various environmental training as required pertinent to current installation priorities and practices

Conducted inspections with sufficient frequency to provide and maintain an accurate and up-to-date evaluation of program status. Assisted in the pre-IG Inspection, inspected the major organizations of both Military and Civilian, reporting discrepancies to the Team Chief. If discrepancies couldn’t be fixed on the spot, I will brief both workers and supervisors and schedule a return visit, allowing ample time to get in compliance. Follow up inspections will be conducted and if needed, then training will be comprehensive and address the needs of supervisors and shop personnel.

As required, review Contracted plans, specifications, and cost estimates for 90% of assigned projects for procurement by contract in support of the environmental program.

Review project designs from an environmental compliance standpoint and take action with the contract officer, contractor, and the customer to ensure work is accomplished per contract standards.

As a Senior Environmental Protection Specialist, technical environmental program manager team lead my duties included the following:

Ensured compliance and provided oversight, and engaged in policy development process.

Stayed in strict compliance with the Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), DOD4715.05-G.

Developed quality assurance programs and procedures, and provided training and instruction to lower graded personnel and foreign maintenance Contractors within the assigned area. I trained them on Fire extinguishers, Eyewash/shower stations, and First aid kits, that they were visible and free of any obstructions.

Briefed top management on inspection results on important data trends, Maintained regular contact with the field managers to assess ongoing operations in the other Gulf States of Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, and UAE.

As the lead Contract Officer Representative (COR)

I Initiated Delivery Orders (DO) for Hazardous Waste removals from the various Gulf States, assisting our customers, other DOD or Contractors in the solution of both common and unique disposal issues. Inspected and accepted documentation (DD Form 1348-1) for outbound Hazardous Waste cargo for completeness, Transportation codes and accuracy.

Met with Hazardous Waste Generators for a pre-removal. Inspected the Hazardous waste to ensure proper packaging, marking, labeling, documentation and certification in accordance with Dangerous Goods Regulations (49 Code of Federal Regulations. Continually trained the waste generators to check the load for combustible and flammable materials are stored away from ignition sources, were stored in the correct containers, hazardous materials and waste were properly labeled, and Spill response kits were available.

Had weekly contact with Ministries of Environment and the Gulf States Custom Offices for Hazardous waste Removals of the Gulf States.

Ensured Contractors and Truck Drivers had current passports and Visas and that they were not from a country listed on that country's watch list.

Environmental Protection Specialist, United States Air Force Nov 2007 – May 2016

As lead EPS, I was responsible for six pharmacies ensuring the physical inventories of hazardous materials match the Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health (EESOH-MIS) software program.

ESOH-MIS is the standardized Air Force HAZMAT and hazardous waste tracking system (HAZWASTE).

Ensuring that all hazardous materials are tracked and issued through ESOMISS and are labeled with an accurate bar code label. Adherence to Federal, State, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment.

Efficient inventory control: Installed a stock tracking system allowing stock rotation to reduce expiration of shelf life of stock on hand. Material requiring shelf life extensions are sent to the lab, with the required paperwork documented.

Providing customer service, program guidance, and consultant services to aircraft production managers and implement and maintain the EESOH-MIS tracking system.

Organizing and overseeing initial accumulation sites and storage areas to ensure hazardous items are properly stored, segregated, issued, and disposed of according to applicable directives and requirements.

Determining storage locations based on chemical composition, physical pharmacy layout, and space availability.

Representing the Support Branch on various center level environmental management teams dealing with hazardous materials.

Responsible for communicating and coordinating assigned project issues with superiors, team members, higher headquarters, regulatory agencies and the community on routine questions and provide data of a variety of related reports in response to audits, inspections, and inquires.

Mentorship; Provided training in the wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in compliance with AFOSH and OSHA guidelines.

Plan for and determine current and future supply requirements to meet the needs of the Tool and Parts cribs which support the F-15 Depot Team.
