Senior Project Manager

Completed development and execution of a $140MM (2014) machine rebuild from cup stock to fluff pulp to meet the business needs of selling the cup stock group. Led team to develop the project from technical solutions to implementation and start-up including project approval, safety plans, team development, estimating, cost control, monthly project presentation to senior management, and construction. Completed the project 2 weeks ahead of the four-month outage and $1.6MM below budget including justified project changes.

Regional Capital Manager (twice) to develop all capital projects over $1MM at up to eleven facilities. Lead a team of over fourteen team members to develop the PDP/Front End Loading (FEL) Business, Technical and Implementation phases, written document of project to enter project approval system, estimates, and schedules with the customer teams. Managed teams to safely achieve results of an average of 5% below budget, on schedule, and met the business and technical objectives.

Senior Project manager on a $13MM (2009) recovery boiler rebuild – Lead development, hiring, and managed the project team, contractor, purchased all materials, ensured all QA/QC was completed per standards and boiler codes, completes steam blow and hot acid cleaning.

Portfolio Manager of multiple projects at the Rome, Ga. Facility including recovery boiler superheater replacement with 1,500-ton crane, two power boiler tube replacement projects, new dry end pulper, new wet end permanent magnet motors and drives and associated CSA work to install the floor capacity increase from a 5” slab to a 36” slab with all new structural supports.

ADDITIIONAL RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

EPC Manager – International Paper, Tres Lagoas, Brazil 2006 - 2009

Managed new $285MM greenfield paper machine design, purchase, build project – Lead equipment selection, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, QA/QC, commissioning and start-up, and the building of seventy-five new homes for new relocated managers and workers.

EPC Manager – International Paper, Mogi Guacu, Brazil 2004-2006

Managed engineering, procurement, and construction of a $135MM (2005) portfolio of projects to

rebuild a recovery boiler with all new steam/mud drums, side wall, roof, nose arch tubes and dissolving tank – completed 12 hours ahead of schedule and on budget.

Change the bleach plant from chlorine-to-chlorine dioxide with two new up flow bleaching towers, pumps and piping, washer drum shower, drives and vacuum system upgrades, new CLO2 titanium reactor, and CLO2 storage tanks – completed on schedule and slightly under budget.

New wastewater treatment system including new lift station for 25MM gallons of wastewater/day, cooling tower, four concrete – HDPE lined holding lagoons with a compressed air bubble aeration lagoon, HDPE discharge pipe into river with modern style discharge piping – BOD reduction of 98% was obtained. Completed on budget and 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

Senior Project Manager – Carter Holt Harvey (IP) New Zealand 2002-2004

Successfully managed the $80MM (2003) rebuild of an existing seven play folding box board machine running at 200m/min with a new three-ply wet end capable of running 600 m/min with new machine drives and groundwood capacity increase. Developed final cost estimate and scope, hired local engineering firm and contractors, managed a team of nine on-site team members, twelve US based subject matter experts, and 450 contractors to complete the project on schedule and $1.3MM below budget.

International Paper 1989- 2002 - Engineering Manager, Paper Machine Maintenance Manager, and other assignments as Project/EPC/Construction Manager in six US locations.
