To whom it may concern,
I am writing to you in interest in the position of an Emergency Medical Technician. I recently saw openings for new EMT positions online and was excited to apply because I believe that my certifications and abilities would match well with your organization. I just recently completed the EMS course at Butte College and upon my success and interest in the class, I have found myself inspired to join this branch of the medical field while still pursuing my education. I am currently enrolled at Butte College to obtain my associates degree in fire science, to further advance in my journey of becoming a firefighter. This would be my first job in the medical field, and I believe that it would be a great opportunity to serve my community before eventually advancing into my career as a firefighter. I know that I will succeed in this position because of my relentless drive and inspiration to help those in need. I have been on the receiving end of both great and poor medical care service and from this I recognize that having a negative experience with medical professionals can be beyond discouraging. To feel cared for should be the minimum standard of care and when this is not met, health care can be intimidating for most people. In this, my motivation is to create a positive, nurturing, and encouraging experience for those that I come into contact with to help cultivate encounters of encouragement and productivity. Prior to starting my college career at Butte College, I was working multiple jobs in my hometown, San Diego. I began working in the restaurant industry from ages 16 to 23. During these many years, I came into contact with people of various different backgrounds and ages, which taught me how to communicate effectively with others while also creating the ability to de-escalate situations of conflict and turn them into positive experiences. After moving to Chico for school, I decided to pursue a more hands-on career that allows me to help people in immediate need.
I am confident that my diverse experience with the community, as well as my passion and drive to serve and help others, would allow me to thrive as an Emergency Medical Technician as a part of your staff. I appreciate your consideration. I will email you next week to learn the status of my application and discuss the possibility of an interview. Respectfully,
Omar Banuelos
