I started my career with the Miami-Dade Police Department as a secretary. While there I worked for several units/stations.

There came a time I was tasked as the administrative relief for the Administrative Secretary and the Payroll Specialist.

Eventually, due to my experience the Lieutenant and I were transferred to the recently developed Intergovernmental Bureau. This Bureau reported directly to the Chief in Headquarters. My assignment was to create and maintain

an administrative section creaded in accordance with the SOP. This position required that I hired administrative employees, maintained payroll and worked directly with the Executive Secretay assigned to our chief. As my Lieutenant and I became known for creating new units we transferred to the City of Palmetto Bay. Generally, when a new city is created within the boundries of MDPD they contracted out their policing needs to MDPD.

Creating this Unit was diffrent in the since that we were no longer reporting just to the MDPD chain-of- command. Additionally, we were accountable to city officials. This required I developed a spreadsheet detailing the budget for the unit. This monthly report was created to provide detailed budget information to the City. They required the unit adhere to budget agreed to when hiring MDPD to provide their services. Leaving me with the newly acquired knowlege and skills to manage the dynamics of working interdepartmentally.
