Plant Engineer

Directly supervised a maintenance staff of seventeen to install, maintain, and improve heavy production machinery and the physical plant.

With the assistance of the corporate engineering staff, designed and implemented improved manufacturing processes.

Reduced staffing requirements per production line from twenty employees to ten, resulting in a profit margin increase thirty-one percent to sixty percent.

Had plant-wide responsibility for the control documentation and appropriate disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with RCRA and DOT regulations.

Developed safety and property conservation plans for the Glasgow plant. Health and safety director for Glasgow facility.

Personally wrote Continuous Improvement Activity training manual for Federal Mogul Friction Products as part of their QD-9000 certification. In addition to the Glasgow plant, the manual was used in other plants in North Carolina and Virginia.

Had managerial responsibility for a $3,500,000 production line expansion of the Glasgow plant, which was completed one month ahead of schedule and $53,000 under budget.

Reduced MRO costs by $250,000 a year through research and negotiations with vendors.

Directly supervised the production engineering department, including twenty three hourly and two salaried associates who designed, fabricated, and installed improved manufacturing processes required to meet customer specifications.
