Selected by Bechtel senior leadership to step out of Project Management for a three year project to become a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Overarching goal was to implement Six Sigma methodologies into multiple projects including the $410 million Aberdeen Chemical Weapons Destruction Project, Bechtel’s Oak Ridge DOE projects, the $5.3 billion Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass Chemical Weapons Destruction Project, Bechtel internal functions, and completed a one year assignment at the DOE Idaho National Laboratory.

Promoted to Project Manager to manage the $580 million Department of Energy (DOE) Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) which included 46 sites in 14 states and management of more than 150 employees and hundreds of subcontract employees. Sites were associated with the Manhattan Project and the early days of AEC. Oversaw the Congressionally mandated transfer of project sponsorship from a centrally managed DOE office to decentralized U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts.

Managed the integrated cost and schedule (EVMS) for the $300 million Navy South Division RAC project and the $100 million Reynolds Metals project, an aluminum smelter plant on the Canadian border that contaminated the St Lawrence River.

Completed post-remedial action reports and other documentation to de-list sites from the National Priorities List (NPL).
