Dear Sir/Madam:
Please accept the attached resume as my application for the position of Fire Weather Meteorologist (Job Requisition ID: 64579) with Ministry of Forestry and Parks in Edmonton, AB. I am confident that my qualifications merit your considerations. My skills and experiences in meteorology will allow me to make an immediate and valuable contribution to the position.
Currently, I am an operational meteorologist working with RWDI Climate & Performance Engineering, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. My current job is a 12 hour-shifted work. My major roles include creating and delivering weather forecasts for clients across Canada, providing scheduled and impromptu weather briefings and consultations, monitoring changes in weather conditions and updating weather forecasts or providing alert services as necessary. As well, during the unbusy months, I did various research works involved in case studies, forecast verification, post-storm reports, and so on.
In addition, I worked as an air quality meteorologist for a few years in Calgary. My work experience in air quality meteorology included the analysis and interpretation of meteorology/climate data observed from the on-site or nearby airports, meteorological condition predictions for air quality assessment. My hands-on experiences in numerical modeling include the application of dispersion and meteorological models, such as AERMET/AERMOD, CALMET/CALPUFF. I had worked on a variety of air quality projects across AB and BC, which addressed air quality management problems associated with various emission sources, mostly in energy sectors, such as flaring, gas plant, coalmine, oil sands, and so on.
My operational experiences on the analysis and interpretation of meteorological information, such as weather maps, numerical model predictions, satellite imaginary and radar echo, and my technical expertise in making weather forecasts, providing weather briefings/consultations, monitoring weather situations and much more are definitely beneficial for this position of fire weather meteorologist. These proven technical skills and work experiences in operational meteorology are highly transferable for the fire weather forecast.
I really hope to join your high-level professional team as a Fire Weather Meteorologist. I am fully confident that I am an excellent candidate for this position based on my successful track record in operational meteorology. Anyway, thank you so much for your consideration. If you need more information about my application, please feel free to contact me via email or phone. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Jeff Jia
