Phillips66 Corporation (ConocoPhillips), Bartlesville, OK Sep 2012 – Aug 2019
Responsibilities:
As the harness for the next three projects.
Analyst Logistics (FTE) May 2017 – Aug 2019
Responsibilities:
Joined the midstream support team, after core development for TRAC66 slowed down. I was part of the client support and application enhancement team, resolving client requests.
Worked with clients from various departments like Accounting, Provisioning, Commercial, field services etc. on requirements gathering to help define their needs.
Complied and analyzed data from multiple sources, Oracle database, SQL Server database, sometimes used SQL Loader to load CSV’s from Excel spreadsheets, proprietary vendor formatted satellite feeds and even whiteboard photos of hand illustrations, to quantitatively address user requirements.
Conducted agile team spikes to work through roadblocks, and sometimes to align with client needs. Created stories that addressed the work that was necessary to accomplish the tasks, and assigned to the various teams. We then worked the stories in two-week sprints via an Agile (Kanban) board process.
Wrote and documented technical specs that will be used by the various technical teams like .NET, Data Integration and field OPS teams. These included the required data sources and data flow diagrams with ERDs, templates, and collaboration points for front-end and back-end inputs and outputs, with specific user instructions.
Sometimes it was necessary to create new meta-data sources like rules for selecting types of crude oil, or when a particular tariff pricing is used.
When SQL queries were needed to integrate data from the multiple data sources, I wrote SQL code, procedures and even logical physical normalized data structures to facilitate any enhancements. Always with performance as a cornerstone.
All and any such enhancements flowed through our DEV/OPS environment, which was built using Visual Studio Team Server (VSTS) running a Git repository, with a build pipeline plugin to run Jenkins enabling the CI/CD environment.
I was excited when the company announced its cloud strategy, it gave me the opportunity to start looking into AWS technologies and I have started exploring how I can use cloud technology to accomplish some of the same on-prem deliverables.
The journey to the cloud has been very interesting. AWS cloud solution was the core cloud vendor. Most of our core systems have moved off prem. Though I was not directly involved with the move, I have learned so much about the process to the cloud and messaging systems.
Design (POC) and Implement cloud- based solutions using Azure Services such as App services, Functions, and logic Apps.
DBA Database support for critical business applications such as ESRI GIS, Google Glass, Oracle PeopleSoft, and CAD. These could help with "The right of way mapping" experimental project.
Environment: Oracle 11g R2 (RAC)/ 12c, SQL Server, Linux
Midstream Technical Architect (FTE) (Jan 2014 – May 2017)
Responsibilities:
The project took on a much larger scope, absorbing other smaller silo projects and adding more cross functionality that would automate and enhance various business processes. The project now has a more corporate enterprise integration focus.
I transitioned into the Full time Technical Architect position when my predecessor moved into a much broader position. The plan was to integrate the various silos of process and functionality across the corporate volumetric and reporting space under the umbrella now called Trac66, and also to design, develop and implement new processes and functionality where gaps may exist.
The core of the system was .Net and an Oracle back end. The team’s agile methodology enables us move at a very fast pace through iterations of timed sprints, and gave us the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing business requirements. The big challenges were working in a highly leveraged environment where other teams used the waterfall methodology. At first, we released on a quarterly bases, and we have had many major and minor releases without any major incidents to date.
Environment: Oracle 11g R2 (RAC)/ 12c, Linux, Windows
Sr Oracle Database Developer (Sep 2012 – Jan 2014)
Responsibilities:
Phillips66 embarked on an unprecedented large-scale software development project to revamp and replace aging software (VRS, EXSTARS etc.) in its corporate operations and accounting business units. These applications help manage various aspects of its Oil transportation organization. My wealth of experience in Oracle technologies and agile development life cycles was immediately valuable.
As one of the lead Oracle database developers, my tasks included working directly with the systems technical architect and the business (SMEs) on the design, development, and implementation of Oracle data structures in PL/SQL packages to provide data to the .NET and web services teams.
In this role, I also mentored other database and .NET developers on various technical issues and Oracle best practices. I also helped to keep them aligned with the business goals and direction.
The team relied on the tool (Rally dev for agile project management) for management and communication of such a large-scale project. It was possible to track tasks in real time, and liaison with other teams in concert. This made it possible have an in-depth knowledge of the entire Trac66 project. It also allowed us to track how the builds were progressing, and also to better coordinate module integration.

Target Corporation, Minneapolis, MN Apr 2011 – Sep 2012
Sr Oracle Database Admin
Responsibilities:
Part of a new team that will support, analyze, and enhance the current corporate security and compliance process for the Oracle environment. The initial process was developed at Target, due to the burden placed on the environment by the new customer data warehouse tracking software. Targets version of an inventory tracker or (SCM). It was a UNIX script that called multiple Oracle database PL/SQL procedures that populated an APEX repository. It was initially put in place to meet the basic requirements of the compliance environment for (SOX, PCI, GLBA and HIPPA). As the demands for higher standards and better compliance accountability grew, it became clear that an enterprise solution was needed. While the search for the better tool for the job was kicked off, my task was to help identify, standardize, and modularize the current process in a way that it could be exportable or at least ensure a seamless migration to the new enterprise tool.
This involved working with multiple teams at Target, as well as with federal and state compliance auditors, to define the standards and build controls that would help us achieve the corporate goals. There was also a proof-of-concept phase where we evaluated multiple tools. Imperva and Guardium were the two prominent appliance-based architecture tools in the market. Imperva was the preferred tool for various reasons. I worked with the service reps to set up controls for the Oracle side of the tool. We did pass a full audit for the first time in a while at the end of the project.
Environnent: Oracle 9i/10g/ 11g R2 (RAC), Linux, Solaris, AIX, Windows

Though I was not part of the installation team, I was brought up to speed with the current configuration and played a key role in trouble shooting and resolving the apply side DataGuard Broker issue. Apparently, there was a rogue process that was manipulating millions of rows which was assumed to be a performance issue. It was later resolved to a corrupt ARC Log file shipped from the primary side.
Used Grid Control and database Control as some of the management tools used to trouble shoot the database and dataguard broker issues. I also used AWR in conjunction with Statspack to help identify issues. Note Oracle ASM was also fully implemented on this project.
