CAREER EXPERIENCE
2010 to 2024 Crane Aerospace Lynwood WA
Analog Engineer Level IV: Responsible for the development low power hybrid DC-DC converters for military and space application. Developed the MSA+ family of products, up to 6.0W, 3.3V to 15V single and duals. Developed the hMOR and sMOR line of products for High Rel Military and Space applications from breadboard to production. Up to120W 3.3V to 28V, -55 C to 125 C, singles and duals. Made extensive Worst-Case-Analysis using SIMETRIX and SIMPLIS for the products. Made Electrical and Thermal Analysis by analysis and simulation of the products.
2014 to 2019: International Rectifier San Jose CA
Principal Engineer: Responsible for the development of low power high efficiency high frequency hybrid switching regulators for down hole application capable of operating at temperatures as high as 215 C. High frequency, High efficiency Rad Hard Hybrid design and support for Space and Military applications. Direct and Synchronous Rectification, Forward and Fly-back. Simulation with Cadence and LT-Spice. Support, analysis and documentation.
1995 2014: Pioneer Magnetics Santa Monica CA.
Senior Principal Engineer: Responsible for the design from concept to production of custom and standard commercial Power Supplies. These range from AC-DC, DC-DC, 100W-10KW, single and multiple outputs using standard topologies as well as state of the art resonant switching techniques, 40-130KHz. Primarily air cooled. Built to meet UL, CSA, VDE safety standard, as well as EMI limits per CISPR22, FCC etc.
1987 to 1995 Arnold Magnetics, Camarillo, CA
R. & D. Manager: Designed new modules and sub-systems and supervised the new products group to complete the EL2000 program. These are standard line of modular multi output products, Custom Specified, for Military applications. Designed from specification to production a number of custom multiple output switching converters for the Military and high-end industrial market. These covered a diverse set of input and output levels. Used most of the common topologies, Buck and Fly-back derived as well as Linear regulators. (40 to 800 Watts, 5 to 270 Volts, 25 to 250 KHz. Primarily Cold plate cooled)
1984 to 1986 Abbott Transistor Laboratories Inc. Los Angeles CA.
Senior project Engineer: Responsible for the design of custom military and Space level switching and linear regulators. This was from the initial proposal specification development with the customer, breadboard and development through production. Made MTBF calculations, stress, stability, thermal, analysis, environmental and EMI testing. Worked on programs such as MILSTAR and FIREBOLT.
1979 to 1984: Pioneer Magnetics, Santa Monica, CA.
Design Engineer: Responsible for switching post-regulators in the 10–150-Watt range, using bipolar devices and techniques. Was also involved in every aspect of high-power switcher design, manufacturing and test. Designed test equipment and wrote test procedures and manuals. Supervised technical work group.
