Profile
My name is Johnny Little and I am 57 years old. I believe myself to still be of sharp mind and strong body. I bring years of experience to whatever job I do making me to be both efficient and productive.
I was a latch-key kid in the late seventies and early eighties, this causes me to be an independent and self-reliant employee.
My parents always had two jobs for as long as I can remember and I started working with them around the age of twelve. My parents would work their normal job then come home to pick me (and later my younger brother) up and we would go to do Custodial work at
office buildings at night. The extra money earned was used to put my brother and myself through Private Schools and for vacations. I went to a private school from Kindergarten through Tenth grade before graduation at a public High School. I skipped a grade in
school, so I graduated very young at 17 years and two days old.
I started working fast food at age 16, mostly to get away from the family business. I worked at a fast food restaurant named Del Taco (a Southern California version of Taco Bell). I worked all the stations possible from Register, where I recorded orders and handled and
counted money, to Taco Bar, where I made Tacos and Burritos at a fast, demanding pace, to Grill, where I cooked Burgers, French fries and Quesadillas.
I also worked for about six months at a MacDonalds again working in a demanding deadline business. I worked for about six months at age 18 at a grocery store named
“Lucky’s” where I worked late-night stocking shelves before opening in the morning. This was another high demand job.
Finally at age 18, I started my “Career Job” at the U.S. Postal Service where I worked for 38 years before retiring in December of 2023. I worked at a Distribution Plant (Warehouse) in Santa Ana California for my entire career, showing Loyalty and Persistence. I worked many
different jobs within the the USPS including, canceling machine operator, mail prepping for machinery, pulling mail to and dispatching from machines to trucks on the dock, moving pallets of mail to and from machines, working on the dock loading trucks, over 35
years of using a Forklift, supervising as a Supervisor of Distribution Operations, as a Dock Tech accepting Drop Shipments of pallets and checking, completing and signing paperwork for shipments worth over a half million dollars of mail per day. I also for a couple years was a co-coordinator for a program known as Quality of Working Life. QWL had two coordinators one appointed by Management and one appointed by the Mailhandlers Union. Although I had experience as a Supervisor I was the appointee by the
Union. QWL was a process in the early to mid eighties intended to include workers in decision-making to make the plant more productive and efficient.
I consider myself to be a productive, efficient, reliable and friendly worker. I tend to do well in direct dealings with a customers and I am not uncomfortable addressing a group of people if necessary.

I learned to be an efficient, productive team-player in a high-demand workplace setting. I worked all three shifts: late-night, afternoon, and day shifts.
(OVERNIGHT) SHELF STOCKER, LUCKYS; DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA — 1985
This was much harder work (physically) than fast-food and the first time I worked a night shift. I learned speed and cardboard cutting skills, using a manual pallet jack, and a “Dolly” as well as meeting deadlines by 0700 every morning.
EMPLOYEE, DEL TACO; DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA — 1983 — 1984 & 1984 — 1985
This was my first Professional experience, working a regular job with non-family members that I could get fired from. I learned the importance of being on time, working as a team member, meeting a deadline, and serving the Public. I also learned how to handle and
count money and to have a cash drawer balance properly at the end of the day.
I worked twice there… till January, 1984 when I moved out of state and graduated from
High School in Arkansas (lived with Grandparents)… and again I was given my job back
when I returned to California in June 1984.
CUSTODIAL WORK, BRADSHAW’S MARKETING; DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA — 1980 — 1983
My family cleaned the building each weekday and often shampooed carpets for extra money on weekends. I learned the importance of showing up to work each day. Each day we dumped all trash, dusted desks, vacuumed and some light mopping… by 14 years of
age I was carrying keys and making sure everything was locked up safely for the night.
