Responsibilities:
Worked full-time on planning, designing, creating, deploying, and maintaining the Maryland Automated Guidelines System (MAGS) website (www.msccsp.org). The website assists district attorneys (DAs), judges, public defenders, etc, to create Cases, Sentences, and related events. The application assists the law professionals with calculations, law-based issues, psychological issues, etc
The MAGS website and webpages created using ASP.NET (Web Forms and MVC), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and XML
Data Modelling: Planned and designed database tables (in terms of tables names, fields names and types, tables relationships (primary and foreign keys), joins (inner, outer, etc), stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers) based on the MAGS application requirements. The database was formally created in Microsoft SQL Server
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS): designed graphic forms (or windows) in C# development and used SQL code to connect database fields to graphical forms based on the application’s stakeholders printing needs
Using Interface/User (UI), Design/User Experience (UX): The Web application was developed in Microsoft Visual Studio: C#, Visual Basic, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript (and JavaScript libraries such as jQuery and AngularJS), Bootstrap (CSS and JavaScript, including customizing Bootstrap themes to fit the customer’s expectations)
Web Services: Web API/REST API is used to handle connectivity between the database and the visual sides of the application. JavaScript libraries (namely jQuery) are used to handle Web events
XML: The extensible markup language (XML) is used throughout the application. Various applications settings were written in XML formats (elements, attributes, etc). Security settings are also stored in XML files
JSON: The JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) is used in applications settings such as database connectivity
Documenting: The application was fully documented in all its code files. Another version of the application documentation is available in electronic format on the MAGS website
Testing, debugging, and deploying the website, using both Microsoft Visual Studio and browser-based tools
Performing data analysis and program evaluation of the website use, including user connectivity and satisfaction
TFS/GitHub: We used GitHub enterprise for developer collaboration and code version control for some of our main MAGS application. For some other applications, we used Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) to maintain and support applications, including their versions. This was necessary for developers working on other projects and for other stakeholders
Developing training material for users (employees and other stakeholders). Training manuals were developed with the intention to print them (Microsoft Word, PDF). Other training materials are in electronic format (computer files and videos) to be distributed or be accessible to employees
Radio Inventory: the Maryland DPSCS department uses a radio system that allows law enforcement and prison professionals to communicate and share information for their daily duties. This system uses a Web-based application created with ASP.NET Web Forms (with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript). The application uses a Microsoft Access database in the Python language (Django). The application uses a Microsoft SQL Server database
Oracle: The Maryland Criminal Justice Dashboard (MCJD)) Procurements department uses a Web-based application. We created the application using the Java language (including JSP). The records are stored in an Oracle database. The creation (data modelling, etc) and maintenance of the database uses PL/SQL operations
