EXPERIENCE
JoAnn Fabrics, 14350 Smoketown Rd., Woodbridge, VA 22192- store associate/stocker
June 2011 - March 2012
At JoAnn, my responsibilities were maintaining a clean workspace, responding to all customers needs, and keeping the store stocked for service.
Bruegger’s Bagels, 606 King St., Alexandria, VA 22314- line cook/crew member
March 2012 - November 2013
In Bruegger’s, my responsibilities were much different from that of JoAnn’s. I had to maintain orders and bagel supply. I would be tasked, at times, to prepare fresh bagels when the shelves would run low. And, closing the store meant a full clean-up job from top to bottom. This was my first restaurant job ever. And, the experience I gained from this company in customer service, diligence, and persistence has allowed me to transfer these skills in to other fields of work.
BGR: The Burger Joint, 106 N. Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314- line cook/crew member
November 2013 - April 2014
With BGR, I was tasked with roughly the same requisites as Bruegger’s. Only, these were burgers this time, not bagels. During slow days, I would prep all stations needing to be prepped, run the grill if we short staffed, and clean the lobby area of the store while customers were away. From this company I gained experience in POS systems and wisdom in food handling and preparation. Unfortunately, the company hadn’t offered the certification program to low-level employees.
Office Movers, LLC., 5617 Industrial Dr., Springfield, VA 22151- mover/laborer
April 2014 - November 2015
For Office Movers, I learned warehouse and labor skill sets. Ranging from moving equipment use to deconstruction of any materials needing to be moved. We primarily worked in the D.C. metropolitan area.
HCR: Homefix Custom Remodeling, 8618 Westwood Center Dr., #200, Vienna, VA 22182- junior marketeer
December 2015 - November 2016
During Homefix, my job as a junior marketeer was simple: approach neighborhoods and get home improvement leads. As Jr. Marketeer, I had the most important job in getting people to do business with the company. Within a 3 week span, I secured a $14,000 sale for the company. From then on, I would secure smaller sales overtime. Through HCR, I am trained to assess situations professionally, adapt to customer/client needs, and make necessary arrangements for the customer/client to receive full benefits from the company. It is at this company where I learned basic marketing skills and advertising skills.
Long Fence & Home Improvement, 10875 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22030- marketeer
December 2016 - May 2017
My skills from HCR had transferred over beautifully at Long Fence & Home. I was able to get out into the field immediately and begin securing leads for the company. Due to mismanagement, the marketing affiliate had lost the contract.
Two Brother’s Soul Food Bar & Lounge, 7305 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22306- prep cook
June 2017 - September 2017
Since I have had past experience in food service, a B.O.H. (back-of-the-house) kitchen aid job was the obvious choice. It became another food service notch on my belt and I learned more than just proper food handling and preparation. At Two Brother's, I learned on-the-fly sit-down restaurant skills such as: table preparation, bar set-up, meal prep (for meals that need to be made the night before), and proper food storage.
Giant Eagle Market District, 840 W. 3rd Ave., Columbus, OH 43212- seafood clerk
June 2018 - May 2022
I took my skills and knowledge of food and applied them at Giant Eagle. From there, not only was I tasked to display my skills I had gained in the service industry, I was taught new skills to add to my portfolio. These skills included: Manage food storage and safety, shutdown/maintain an entire department in a grocery store(Meat/Seafood), aid customers in their time of need(physically assist customers that couldn't shop by themselves), and various other skills I learned on my own while employed with Giant Eagle. I also had learned grocery department skills such as stocking, order logging, back stock, and shelf sweeps to check for expired food. The biggest asset to my skill set that I had gained was multitasking. Having to manage both the customers and manage the cutting room floor was more than enough to learn how to properly handle more than one task.
Atalian Global Services, 646 Parsons Ave., Columbus, OH 43206- general labor/ floor technician
January 2020 - June 2021
Atalian had been a new experience the moment I stepped into the employee break room. The energy was high with blue collar jokes and laughs. At my first job site, everyone was fair and worked hard. We would even look out for each other when things became hectic. And with everyone making my time there a joy, it was easy to learn and transition from food to custodial work. My first night, we had worked during a Columbus Blue Jackets game. The people were so much fun to watch on breaks from cleaning the floors and offices of my building. People would even be kind to clean up after themselves if they were really in good spirits. Yet, all good things come to pass. Whether it be on someone else's accord, or our own, we can't have happiness everlasting.
A coworker of mine at the time of me moving locations to The Ohio State University( I had previously started across from Nationwide Arena) had been notorious for making all the other workers work twice as hard. He wouldn't do what was required of him most times and that would set us back. Yet, I managed to pull through long enough to see my old supervisor retire and watch this very same man take over her position. Upon realizing that he would be the new supervisor, I quickly put in a notice to quit. I would've done a 2 weeks notice, but the ship was already sinking. To this day, I owe that job for revitalizing my sleep schedule and getting back into groove with my morning jobs.
Amazon CMH4, 1550 W. Main St., W. Jefferson, OH 43126- picker/packer
June 2021 - September 2021
I had, unfortunately, only been able to work Amazon for a short period of time due to my car breaking down. I loved that job, but I wasn't able to travel so far. Upon leaving, my section super said to give them call if it ever were a time I needed to comeback. Yet, growth is a forward motion aspect of life.
SBK Delivery LLC., 6201 Collings Dr., Lockbourne, OH 43137
May 2022 - August 2022
So, after I worked for Amazon's picking warehouse, I had decided to try out the delivery aspect of the job. It was a wonderful decision. I had the most fun I've ever had at work! I love to drive. I have no clue why, but it provides me with a sense of freedom and therapy at work that feels unrivaled.
However, I had recently had a beautiful son. His sleep schedule didn't coincide with my work schedule, so it resulted in me having to leave and return to my jobs through Wonolo.
Wonolo LLC., 535 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94105
May 2019 - Currently Employed
I have been blessed to have Wonolo in my pocket for times when I needed to give my family attention they would need, while still making sure to pay bills and feed everyone. I have been with this company since and it has been nothing but the best for me with these guys.
