Voted by peers to represent 139 elementary schools as Chairperson of The Elementary Principals’ Organization (BAESP).
Nominated as Finalist for Florida’s Most Innovative Principal of the Year for 2008-2009, sponsored by Florida Council of Instructional Technology Leaders.
Served on Instructional Council: Met with leaders, as Chairperson Elect, to discuss school reform and to put strategies into motion to improve fragile schools.

Partnered with University of Miami’s Robotics Department – 5th Graders learn and write code and send it to the Robotics Department for practical use and innovation.
Served as a Community Forum Panel Guest on Becon TV; topic of discussion was technology in the classroom.
Coordinated “Souper Bowl of Caring” with the Miami Dolphins: All proceeds are donated to the Daily Food Bank of Broward County.
Created “The Clarion Connection” (Out of State Intern Program): Purpose is to recruit and retain highly qualified teachers.
Facilitated increase of Interns from Local Universities: In the last 6 years, Nova employed 98 interns compared to 9 in the 3 years prior to my tenure. Of those 98, 83 are either teaching in Broward, continuing their education or serving as a substitute teacher, an 84.69% success rate!

Instructional & Ethical Leadership:
Finalist for the 2009-2010 ACCLAIM Award (Nominated for the 2008-2009 ACCLAIM Award).
Facilitated Science Ideas, Integrated Science, Reading and Writing Program: Led teachers and other staff members through the change process. Science score on FCAT went from 38% to 60% in one year!
Integrated “Chartworld” into the Nova curriculum. Chartworld is a mathematics teaching tool developed by
Dr. Don Ploger at FAU; research has shown great results in achievement levels in all students who participate.
Coordinated and monitored Sterling Quality Award Project for the Nova Zone; Zone project won first place.
Represented Elementary Principals on BTU Negotiating Team.
Mentored three students in the last three years: Met with them once a week to discuss issues and help them deal with day-to-day events.
Classroom Technology:
Won District Best Practice Award, Using Podcasting to Differentiate Instruction, 2010.
Won District Best Practice Award, Using Document Cameras to Go Green, 2009.
Flew to California to produce a Podcast on Nova’s many uses of the iPod Touch for Apple’s Education Website.
Designed Teacher Technology Competitions which encourage staff to incorporate technology in classroom.
Podcast a Learning Net: Podcasts or curriculum-based multi-media presentations are used to facilitate enrichment, remediation, and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
Podcast a Learning Net, Program that integrates iPod Touches to deliver curriculum as well as conduct parent conferences, pre-field trip activities, video newsletters and staff development.
Piloted Pinnacle for ETS: Troubleshoot Pinnacle at the elementary level prior to its full dissemination.
Created four “Smart” Classrooms using cutting edge technology to create a “Futuristic Classroom.”
Invented the “Projector Perch,” an LCD Projector offering superior classroom integration.
Managing the Learning Environment:
Facilitated Grants: Under my leadership, NBF has received three grants totaling $104,000.
Oversaw building upgrades: 6 modulars, 2 new playgrounds, a covered walkway, a new roof and exterior paint job.
Appointed by the Superintendent to the Budget Guidelines Committee to streamline budgeting processes.
Achieved no material audit exceptions since becoming Principal at Nova Blanche Forman.
Professional & Human Resources Development:
Appointed District Recruiter for 3 years: Traveled and successfully attracted 15 new teachers to Broward County.
Acted as Principal Presenter at NSTA, National Science Teacher’s Convention: Presented “The Principal’s Role in Science Ideas” in Anaheim, California. In this presentation, I developed six Quicktime movies that the participants viewed and then we had short discussions after each.
Appointed to Compensation Committee (By Superintendent): Identified Pay for Performance guidelines.
Mentored one Interim Principal, two Intern Principals, three Assistant Principals and two LEAD participants.
Vision/Strategy:
Facilitated Nova Zone Vision Committee, supporting district’s vision for the Nova Schools, coordinated the development of the 15 Nova Zone Vision Tasks.
Served as member of Technology Advisory Committee (TAC).
Integrated “Science Ideas” into the culture of Nova Blanche Forman Elementary.
Community, Partnerships & Diversity:
Acted as Executive Producer of “The United Ways, Right Way Podcast”: Podcast was used to bring awareness to the United Way giving needy children bicycle helmets (3,000 given away).
Appointed to the Hardship Committee: Addressed family concerns regarding reassignments for their children.
Expanded the gifted population every year while improving and enhancing the curriculum and instruction
Developed a “Book Chat” online to discuss Ruby K. Payne’s Book, A Framework for Understanding Poverty to promote positive learning culture.
