PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

July 2021-July 2024, Family Care Center, Colorado Springs, CO

Provided comprehensive behavioral healthcare to a broad range of patients to include medication management, psychotherapy and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for a multitude of symptoms and diseases. Performed TMS counseling, mapping and remapping procedures with Brainsway and Magventure (c60 & c70 coils) machines for chronic refractory depression/anxiety. Referred patients for specialized counseling and neuropsychological testing. I specifically treated Military/Law Enforcement veterans suffering from PTSD and adjustment disorders

Honorably discharged from the US Army after working 12 years as an active duty Army Physician Assistant in primary and emergency medicine. I was solely responsible for the general health/welfare, medication management or referral to specialty care for all of these patients. I monitored these patients to ensure they received continuity of care and ensured all medical data was properly entered into their electronic health records. Duties included:

1.Appropriately diagnosed and treated urgent care needs, chronic illnesses, long term pain patients, behavioral health patients (substance abuse), preventive care, women's health/ family planning and prescribed appropriate courses of treatment, including pharmaceutical medication and diagnostic tests (Radiology, Labs, Nuclear medicine) in a general practice setting.

2.Developed and administered health programs for pain management.

3.Ensured all soldiers were properly vaccinated prior to leaving for duty in foreign countries.

4.Performed skin cancer screening, dermatologic skin biopsy (punch and blade) and minor dermatologic surgical procedures.

5.Sutured wounds and lacerations to include two-layer wound repair, lacerations of the face and scalp, used primary, secondary, and tertiary techniques for wound closure.

6.Performed all aspects of well woman procedures including pelvic/pap/breast exams and family planning. Scheduled appropriate appointments for the care of pediatric patients to include well baby/mother exam, immunizations, and postpartum recovery.

7.Managed preparation and follow-up for surgical patients this involved pain control, writing rest /recovery timelines, and coordinating with Physical therapy to structure patient specific rehabilitation programs.

8.Performed therapeutic joint injections with and without Ultrasound on all upper and lower joints of the body.

9.Organized long term healthcare plans for cardiac disease, diabetes, hypertension/hyperlipidemia, pulmonary and other chronic disease processes.

I worked in a variety of settings while overseas; I was the clinic supervisor in a large Battalion Aid station providing first line trauma and medical stabilization to 6000+ Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines, Department of Defense (DOD) personnel and contractors suffering from war wounds or medical emergencies. I also worked in a large general practice/health clinic with other allied health professionals on secure bases. I worked on a small 3-man medical team (1 PA & 2 medics) that provided care to remote Forward Operating Bases (FOB). Several times I was the only medical provider for large sections of distance.
