Damilola sickle cell foundation June 2022
Brief Description: A non-governmental organization that helps in creating awareness about sickle cell anemia, importance of genotype testing, and limiting stigmatization of people living with sickle cell.
Achievement: As a volunteer in 2022, I led a team of 5 volunteers for Genotype sensitization at (mention the market) in Kwara state. My team did one-on-one sensitization to 65 people at the marketplace, including both market shop owners and the consumers. We educate them on the importance of genotype before marriage and explain to them what sickle cell anemia is and the consequences of overlooking the test. After the conclusion of the sensitization, we shared learning material e.g. pamphlets with detailed explanation about sickle cells and genotype and information on how to carry out the test both in English and local language.
