*[On March 15, 2024, I was a food server at Dream Café Lakewood, where I had worked for three years. On that day the restaurant and others were ordered to close on account of the Covid-19 pandemic. I have been out of the workplace since.
The unexpected (and unwanted) hiatus afforded me an opportunity to reassess my work and career goals. I was fortunate to have had the means to sustain myself during this period, but now, I am eager and motivated to get back to work.

As a waiter in a full-service high-volume restaurant, assumed responsibility to assure that each patron was completely satisfied with their dining experience. Provided courteous service to high professional standards in a casual environment. Suggestive selling, order taking, computers (POS), settled payments, cash handling, communication and teamwork.

As a keyholder, and assistant store manager, opened and closed the store. Opened/Closed registers, counted cash and prepared bank deposits, assured the maintenance of live-animal stock. Managed staff of store associates. Other duties included receiving freight, stocking, merchandising and inventory. Cashiering. Customer Service.

As a front desk associate for a 62-room boutique guest lodge, was responsible for assuring guest satisfaction. Made room assignments. Booked reservations. Checked guests in/out. Bill preparation and cash handling. Other duties included baggage handling, concierge services, and occasional housekeeping.

November 1998 to 2004
Was liaison to The Dallas Morning News for a state-wide 24-hour cable TV news station. Spearheaded synergy between the tv station and the newspaper. Participated in news department meetings at both entities to aid in shaping content for newscasts. Secured the cooperation of the newspaper’s editors, reporters, photojournalists and graphic artists to appear on-air. Arranged interviews. Wrote scripts for feature segments and contributed to The Dallas Morning News as a freelance writer.
