I have provided this role in two major projects in Qatar; New Doha Zoo (Design Stage), and Sharq Crossing Programme, seconded to Fluor Mideast Ltd. ( Sharq Crossing is a major infrastructure project comprises of three iconic bridges linked with an immersed tube which spans the area of Doha Bay in the State of Qatar). "Male Student Housing project”, Qatar, which is located within the Education city campus, aiming to be a world's first U.S Green Building Council (USGBC), certified LEED platinum student residence halls, the world's largest collection of registered platinum buildings (twelve) in one location, included residential halls, studio buildings, apartment buildings, and recreational community centers. My responsibilities as a site manager included supervising and monitoring all the construction activities; structural components, excavations, concrete works, finishing works, safety issues, quality assurance and control, in addition to resolving all daily site issues, and ensuring all construction activities are as per the specified and planned sustainable goals.

I supported the smooth transition between the two stages of this project with two separate contracts (enabling works and main works) with all the complications that occurred during that process. I was also one of the key people responsible for following up the green building categories and compliance. The role involved regular coordination workshops with contractors and designers to identify potential conflicts. I facilitated solutions at these sessions, managed the change process for affected documentation. Assistant Resident Engineer, Mar. 2008 – Sep. 2009 Central Plant (2 and 4), Education City, Qatar

I was appointed to this position to Supervise all of the construction civil works; coordinate MEP works with dedicated project core team as assigned by the RE and take responsibility for the quality control and inspection thereof. I ensured liaison between the Client, contractors, Authorities and the design team, facilitated meetings regarding progress, coordination of utilities, contractor’s claims, performed an initial review of all Contractors’ variation (change) order proposals, Prepare Requests for Information (RFI's) when needed for review by the RE (civil). My role also included ensuring the works were appropriately sequenced, properly timed with regard to the project schedule and being constructed by the contractor(s) in a manner compliant with the contract documents, specifications, etc.

As the Senior Civil Engineer for the Central Plant (2 and 4), building, Infrastructure, and Utility Tunnel Project at Education City, I was part of the team that implemented the on-site QAQC processes for the project. This project also included installation and commissioning of (11 kV) chiller units, cooling towers, pump station, underground concrete water tanks, and administration building. Tasks included a day-to-day monitoring construction activities, manpower, schedules, and contractual commitments, also assisted the contractor together with the team, upon taking on site decisions and choosing the best construction alternatives, ensuring proper creation and implementation of the method statements, shop drawings, safety plans, and preparations of performance reports (progress, status, variance.), including the monthly evaluation for billing purposes

I was promoted into this role as recognition of previous performance. In this new role, I provided support to several construction teams developing residential towers (Ezdan towers) in Al Dafna / West Bay area in Doha. I have assisted tower managers in all construction phases including civil works, manpower assignment, quality and productivity monitoring, checking of sub-contractor’s claims, site safety and health issues, site progress vs. construction schedule, timely and accurate site reports and any related site initiatives. In addition to the above, I supervised the section of the business responsible for the tower cranes, man and materials, hoists and cradles.

A key part of the role included monitoring progress of achieving the requested approvals from the concerned authorities and divisions related to sub-stations, civil construction, and the sign-off and/or handing-over to Kahramaa for each phase of the work, following up with Civil Defense for final inspections and related tasks for obtaining occupation permits and Municipality approvals.
