Summary/objective
• The Youth Program Coordinator supports UTOPIA’s Youth Program. Under the lead of Youth Program Manager, Program Coordinator helps to ensure that current and future Youth programming is designed and implemented most appropriately to the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC context. This position will support to ensure effective coordination with Program Manager, monitoring and evaluation, and quality assurance of UTOPIA’s Youth portfolio. This position ensures leveraging and alignment with other youth programs and other local school district teams. This position will also be responsible for contributing to program design and development; measurement, research, and reporting; training and mentoring. The Youth Program Manager is responsible for the development of a strong and sustainable youth portfolio for UTOPIA Washington.

Primary Responsibilities - 90%
• Support implementation of UTOPIA’s Youth Program activities and ensure that services are delivered on time, on budget and in compliance with donor regulations.
• Conducts outreach to recruit LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC youth for UTOPIA’s youth program.
• Provide leadership, guidance and training for program staff, youth interns and apprentice
• Ensure that the Youth Program is implemented in ways responsive to communities, partners, and in line with UTOPIA’s principles, values, and strategic plan and compliant with UTOPIA’s procedures.
• Work with Youth Program Manger to develop work plans and follow up regularly to ensure that activities are on track.
• Support Program Manager to identify appropriate future partners for implementation of the Youth Program.
• Monitor program progress against both programmatic and budgetary targets, adjusting program design as necessary.
• Prepare timely program and funder grant reports on project activities in compliance with internal UTOPIA requirements and any relevant external funder requirements.
• Help develop curriculum and training that is culturally competent of the youth UTOPIA serves to increase awareness in healthcare field opportunities to include pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and programs offered at colleges.
• Connect youth to healthcare opportunities with partners that UTOPIA has historically been supported by, ensuring equitable access for BIPOC youth to network with those they identify with through community engagement.
• Provide support for BIPOC participants in obtaining training and certification aligned with healthcare.
• Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals to increase environmental awareness exposing BIPOC youth to hospital and clinical settings. Other Duties and Expectations - 10%
• Foster an environment that promotes trust and cooperation amongst UTOPIA staff, community members and affiliate organizations.
• Actively participate in program strategy, planning, tracking, and reporting, and staff meetings.
• Actively participate and organize Statewide and County events.
• Assist in Organization Development and Fundraising.

Weekly schedule is Monday through Friday, 9AM - 5PM, but some weekend and evening events may be required.
Since this position is ineligible for overtime, flexing the work hours to not exceed 40 in one week is the employee’s responsibility.
Due to the direct service nature of our work, most work is expected to be completed on-site. Occasional offsite tasks such as bank runs or meetings with community members may be required. Use of personal vehicles is eligible for reimbursement in accordance with state and federal laws and UTOPIA policy.

Preferred education and experience
• Two years of community organizing and/or cultural work, especially within the LGBTQI+ and/or Pacific Islander communities. Equivalent experience with facilitation or community engagement will be considered.
• Experience doing cultural community engagement work, especially within QTPI, NHPI, or other communities of color.
• Possess strong communication skills including public speaking, meeting facilitation, and writing.
• Experienced in authentic and open relationship building with queer and trans people, Pacific Islanders, other people of color, and community allies.
