●INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL RESOURCES (NR-1): This course overviews natural resources management and technician skills. It is intended for those who wish to work as technicians for natural resource entities such as the U.S. Forest Service. History of resources management, governmental and private land management entity structure, basic hand tool identification and use, map reading, forest health, personal safety and first aid, and forest measurements will be included.

●CONSERVATION NATURAL RESOURCE(NR7): This course is conducted to give the students occupational learning opportunities and career awareness. Students may earn 16 units in work experience, of which only six may be in COTR 19G. This is accomplished through employment (paid or volunteer) providing learning related to the student’s major, educational, or occupational goal. Students may be required to attend an orientation. The student’s employer must agree to participate by assisting in developing measurable learning objectives, verifying hours worked, meeting with a designated college official, and evaluating the measurable learning objectives.

●Introduction to fire basics(NR98)-This is the first phase in professional wildland

fire training and development. During this phase students will learn basic wildland fire concepts and will attain the basic training required for employment into the Federal and State Wildland Fire Service. Students will gain understanding into the professional culture of wildland fire and the physical demands essential for the occupation. Students will be introduced to basic skills and attributes vital of a wildland firefighter.

●Field studies (NR-108)

●Integrated Fuels Fire(NR95)- This course trains students in the profession of hazardous and strategic fuels management and basic fire ecology concepts. Students will receive instruction on Fuels project development, fire behavior, fire weather and crewmember functions. Students will ascertain practical and tactical experience on fuels reduction projects ranging from chainsaw operations, brush clearing and tree felling. Students will be introduced to mechanical fuels treatment application through use and operation of small mechanized equipment such as skid steerers and mini-excavators. Data collection, project safety and management will be emphasized.
