Implemented Group-wide Mentoring programs to address succession, development and retention initiatives.

Led a reorganization effort to respond to economic changes which resulted in a reduction of approximately 10% of the workforce with no negative effect on production capabilities.

Eliminated two onerous and outdated pension programs and replaced them with a “top tier” supplemental plan.

Chaparral Steel was the second largest supplier of structural steel in North America with revenues approaching $2.6 Billion. The Company was acquired by Gerdau Ameristeel Corp in September 2007 after a successful spin off from TXI in 2005. Operated under the symbol “CHAP” on the NASDAQ Exchange, Chaparral was selected as one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens in America by Business Ethics Magazine in 2006. Led the HR and Benefits due diligence efforts supporting the divestiture/spin-off of Chaparral from TXI resulting in:

o Establishing a more progressive 401(k) Plan which included “safe harbor” protections, auto enrollment and auto increase features resulting in a 96% participation rate while doubling plan assets in 24 months. o Instituted a corporate philosophy of cost sharing with major medical plans which reduced burden on company by up to $4M per year.

Established a Human Resources Business Plan process to coordinate with the Company’s Business Planning process. A proactive tool was developed to identify and address future needs and opportunities related to HR Issues.

Established the Chaparral Education Foundation (501(c)3) for charitable contributions and scholarship funding. Additional funding to United Way (80% of Ellis County United Way funding came from Chaparral) and Junior Achievement.

Directed the HR and Benefits functions for the acquisition and eventual sale of Chaparral to Gerdau AmeriSteel that included Board of Directors discussions and evaluations. Director of Human Resources - Steel 1998 - 2005

A wholly owned subsidiary of TXI. Responsible for all steel assets comprising $600M in sales and approximately 1,500 employees.

Managed and led the HR function during the integration of Chaparral within TXI as a “wholly-owned subsidiary” including policies and procedures, pay practices, benefits, corporate culture and philosophy adopting a “best practices” approach.

Led the evaluation and impact analysis of a reduction-in-force of approximately 20% of the total Chaparral workforce which resulted in no adverse impact on production and approximately $10 million per year in cost savings.

Developed and implemented a Succession Planning model and Performance Management methodology to anticipate and prepare for future leadership needs.

TXI, DALLAS, TX 1995 - 1998

TXI was a leading supplier of Cement, Aggregate, and Concrete Products in the Southwest and California with revenues in excess of $1 Billion. Traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “TXI”, the Company has consistently been rated as one of Americas Most Admired Companies by Fortune Magazine.

Regional Human Resources Manager

Responsible for all corporate assets in North Texas to include corporate offices, manufacturing facilities and distribution centers with approximately 1,800 employees.

Developed and established a Human Resources Compliance Audit tool to be used corporate wide.
