Duties:

I rotate from all departments in the hospital from maternity, ICU, pre-op, post op, CDC (California department of Corrections) and Emergency Department. I draw from routine blood work, to stroke alerts, septic alerts, troponin alerts, many of which are hard draws due to illness, age or drug use all of which require their own appropriate processing of blood samples such as routine, timed specific, STAT, and transported on Ice. Duties:

I work in an OB GYN Clinic and am the lead phlebotomist and draw between 40-60 patients per day. I train and supervise new and current phlebotomists. I greet patients in a cheerful and professional manner. Select venipuncture equipment appropriate for the test being performed. Draw blood specimens and instruct patient on proper collection methods on specimens such as: 24 hour urine, stool collection, and such. I draw and take special precautions on processing and transporting, such as: frozen, light sensitive, time sensitive, stat, platelet function, genetic testing, and all insuring they go to the correct corresponding laboratories ( which are 6). I draw between 6-10 GTT per day, and make sure to observe and listen to patients concerns regarding fainting spells or preferences on being laid down on draws to avoid reactions. If such concerns arise patient is taken to a room where the patient is made comfortable for the draw and is observed before during and after insuring patient safety. I generate labels and affix on the correct specimens. I perform clerical functions such as, scanning, filing, sending and receiving faxes, always adhering to HIPPA rules and regulations, answer calls for the laboratory results and direct them to the corresponding head nurse or doctor. Take messages and verbal orders from doctors. I operate the centrifuge on standard and special blood samples. There is many more duties I conduct on my 8 + hour shift. I have collected many satisfied customer comments written by patients on my professionalism, compassion and excellent phlebotomy skills, Which I will

provide upon request. It is a very busy medical facility yet I take the time to give each patient the individual and undivided attention on their care and concerns.
