My name is Prana Miryala. I am a sophomore at NJIT, New Jersey. I graduated from Monroe Township High School in June 2022. I would like to pursue a career in biology due to my fascination with genetics and cell biology.

Academics:

I have immersed myself in all honors and AP level classes, challenging myself to take higher level classes of all subjects. Additionally, I am an AP scholar.

- The APs I have taken so far are: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Literature, Calculus AB, English Language and Composition, and Psychology.

Now in college I reside in the Honors College at NJIT and challenge myself with rigorous coursework additional to my extracurricular life.

After School Activities:

During my years of high school I have participated in several business and medical related clubs such as FBLA, DECA, TEDx, and HOSA.

- I have attended FBLA nationals for four years in a row and placed 4th nationally in Life Smarts.

- I have won state level awards in FBLA for Healthcare Administration and Help Desk

- I have continuously reached the State level in HOSA and HOSA

- I have given a Ted talk on what self love means to me and have been posted on the TEDx YouTube channel

- I am an executive in my school's order of TEDx and HOSA.

- I have competed and led events such as the Rutgers Oncology Olympiad.

- I have done research with Rutgers University on Landoltia Punctata cells. Now in college I work in my school’s lab to study the neurobiology of ants and such species and relate their eusocial behaviors back to human behaviors.

- I am also a certified EMT from the SAFE-T EMS program in Marlboro, NJ and work in several EMS stations to care for patients on the spot and enjoy my work as a first responder.

Extracurriculars:

Outside of school activities, I have volunteered at Centrastate hospitals and at my primary care physician’s office for two years

- I have completed a four year Indian Classical Music certificate course along with a five year long Telugu Language certificate course.

- Taking care of medical records and vaccination lists at Livingston Pediatrics, NJ

- I am currently the President of a non profit foundation named GirlSTEMpowerment that empowers young girls to learn more about STEM and pursue a field in its field by giving workshops and hands on experience.

- I take time to teach children my mother tongue Telugu, and tutor children various STEM subjects during my free time.

- I am an intern at C&S Wholesale Grocers in the business and information solutions sector and work on automation

- I have done genetics and cloning research at BASF (a German based chemical company) on landoltia punctata.

- I have also attended and taught multiple workshops on genetics to children of workers who work at Bristol Myers Squibb

- I am a competitive dancer at a nationally recognized ethnic dance team at Rutgers Newark called Ehsaas and enjoy pursuing my passion.
