I first joined the company when it was Embassy Vacation Resorts (timeshare) then it was sold to Sunterra Resorts. Later it was bought by Diamond Resorts and then to Hilton Grand Vacations in August 2021. My payroll came through the Maui property although I was able to remain living on Kauai (since 1989) as I was in a regional position and traveled 80% of the time. I held numerous positions during my 26 years starting as a sales secretary and moving quickly into various department management positions until reaching the position of Director of Sales & Marketing Administration – Hawaii Business Unit. I was laid off on March 1, 2022, as Hilton Grand Vacations already had a Director of Business Operations for Hawaii and therefore my position was eliminated as being a duplicate position.

I traveled to the mainland and interisland 80% of the time and worked remotely (home) 20%. My primary focus was not only on direct supervision and coaching of site administrative (support) managers but also rolling out policies and procedures, creating and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), working closely with resort management, sales vice presidents and marketing managers. In the last few years, the majority of my time became collecting data, providing thorough analysis and submitting a summary report to upper management so that strategic decisions could be implemented (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting) as well as monitoring and reporting sales & marketing team member productivity. I worked with site and corporate I.T., accounting, legal, treasury, and corporate creative team on setting up new sales and marketing locations to meet corporate and legal standards. I worked with the business managers to ensure that revenue & costs were in line with budgets and if not, coordinated with the entire management team to implement changes. I was the Hawaii contact for the third party contracted companies on the planning, design, and construction related to sales, marketing and off-site administrative offices. During my 26 years, I was the project manager on the opening of 11 sales centers in Hawaii, California and New Mexico. At one time, I was responsible for the sales & marketing administration operations of 12 sales centers until Hawaii became a separate business unit in 2018.

This position involved maintaining the medical library, conducting medical article searches for the physicians (prior to the internet), securing monthly continuing education speakers, preparing Hawaii licensing paperwork for new and visiting physicians, attending all medical department meetings to take minutes and distribute appropriately. I resigned to assist my spouse in setting up his construction business.
