• Receives and conveys electronic communication to/from the Deputy General Counsel, and prepares responses either electronically or by hard copy based on oral dictation from the Deputy General Counsel, the General Counsel, or other members or attorneys of the immediate office of the General Counsel, as circumstances may require.

• Establishes priorities at own discretion; prioritizes appointments, invitations to meetings, or speaking engagements on own initiative. Ensures briefings are scheduled for the Deputy General Counsel on matters to be considered before a scheduled meeting. Documents commitments required for the Deputy General Counsel during meetings; informs staff of commitments, and arranges for implementation.

• Accomplishes tasks in the GC Concurrence Actions program, overseeing all functions related to the development and approval process for official documents requiring the concurrence, approval, or signature of the Deputy General Counsel. This includes ensuring policies and procedures are followed for the proper development and presentation of correspondence, decision memoranda, external requests for concurrence, and other documents.

• Reviews all decision documents prior to submission for proper formatting, grammar, and sentence structure, in addition to reviewing the substance of decision documents for consistency with other documents, GC positions, and Departmental priorities. Makes regular use of the Department’s eDOCS system for entering controlled correspondence and other documents, directing the assignment of documents to the appropriate GC office(s), establishing and enforcing due dates, and preparing weekly reports.
