RESUME 2023

Executive Healthcare Manager/Case Manager and Instructor

INTRODUCTION

My nursing career has been invested in patient care of all ages in LTC facilities, home care, case managing, leadership and education/teaching. I have hands-on competency experiences in a variety of healthcare practices and professional levels to include executive nursing; telephone triage; discussions with physicians; imaging and insurance communications, as well as, understanding front desk skills. I believe patients and their care-givers (family members and staff) deserve the very best; I am inspired to provide the very best. I am knowledgeable about disease entities/disabilities and the affect on patients’ life styles and on healthcare professionals’ POC (Plans Of Care). I have a strong work ethic; I have professional drive and I am intellectually curious and organized with attention to detail. I provide polite, personal, professional nursing care; this is automatic and fundamental for me. Respectful and careful coordination of patient care issues with primary care physicians and with my coworkers have been my passions. I am persistent, a self-starter, a problem solver and a positive support to team work. I know the value of all staff members; I am an organizer and a team player. I have been an instructor for a Nurse Aide Program and an LPN instructor both in the Skills Lab, as well as, their Clinical Instructor during their LongTerm Care (LTC) rotation. I have held nursing positions in executive branches of LTC Facilities and in home health care; I have been Affiliate Staff for Regis University; a LTC Staff Development Coordinator and I have years of experience in urgent care and office practices. I appreciate and respect management/administration. My nursing follow-up and follow-thru is automatic in all my nursing positions. I also have Front Office/Receptionist Experiences. Nurses have earned the reputation of respect and trust; providing health care to the public is a profession like none other. I respect the necessary autonomy and the privilege to talk with the public about healthcare situations with discretion, good judgment and tact. I graduated from Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1975 then I graduated from Regis University-Summa Cum Laude-in the RN to BSN program in 2007. My Practicum study, before graduation from Regis University, was in Hospice Care. I am a compassionate caregiver and a professional achiever. I like to be available to all personnel as a realistic, considerate team player who provides direction, education and care for patients’ welfare and to assist/coordinate with my team members. I recognize the benefit of establishing an immediate rapport with my team members, my patients and with the public. My work mode is to gather the facts then to organize the situation accordingly.

I have held executive and floor-staff positions in long term care/rehabilitation facilities for most of my nursing career. Being a leader and an educator/organizer are positions I personally enjoy and they are positions that are a good professional fit for me. As a facility Shift Supervisor I dealt with a variety of administrative issues: interviewed, assessed and evaluated new admissions; completed admission paper work and created the initial Plan of Care, medication verification and processing to pharmacy. Facilities were often staffed with LPNs so I performed a variety of other responsibilities within my BSN, RN scope of Practice. I passed medications and attended to IV therapy and PICC line administration/flush and PICC dressing changes. Performed wound care and wound VAC changes along with G-Tube monitoring. Performing routine rounds to spot check for clean, dry and repositioned residents; tracheotomy care and G-Tube monitoring were all a part of my daily nursing care. I often handled administrative issues after hours. I have handled communication with facility staff and with family members outside regular working hours especially when I worked the evening shift. I attended to physicians’ needs throughout facility; followed-up on lab work and residents’ lab results.

Instructor-Academic/Classroom and Clinical Instructor

Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor with Accent Learning Systems (ALS). The program is developed from the book The Nursing Assistant by JoLynn Pulliam to include teaching acute, subacute and long-term principles of basic nursing care. I taught classroom academic content and skills, laboratory practice skills and clinical experiences in a LTC facility to prepare students to take their Nurse Aide Colorado State Certification written exam and skills evaluation.

As a nursing student instructor with Concorde Career College (CCC) I taught and checked-off nursing students in their skills lab for their first student nursing experience which included their initial patient assessment. Then I supervised students in their first clinical rotation (long term care) with emphasis on teaching the Nursing Process. CCC designed a Clinical Preparation Form that is used through the student’s education to teach and develop a plan of care that includes patient information; baseline diagnosis; NANDA; medication; lab results; treatments and a detailed form for nurse visits. Concorde Career College offered and required continuous completion of CEE online classes.

As Affiliate Faculty/LTC Clinical Supervisor with Regis University I supervised and monitored nursing students in their long term care (LTC) clinical rotations.

I corrected homework assignments and discussed various aspects of nursing while on LTC rotation then reported my impressions of each student’s professionalism and skill to their classroom instructor. My teaching focused on teaching students to become acquainted with their patients and the contents of their patients’ charts and medications, as well as, to spend time with the staff nurses and the systems within the long term care facility.
