Duties and Responsibilities:

Designated as focal person of Honeybee at Department of Agriculture – CAR.

In charge of the Technology Demonstration Apiary located at Baguio Animal Breeding and Research Center, Dontogan, Baguio City.

Maintenance of Apiary that served as learning venue for stakeholders, to produce honey and as a source of bee colonies and queen bees for dispersals.

Conduct training and seminars to those who are interested in beekeeping industry.

Provide technical and other services to local beekeepers.

To help other institutions/agencies and stakeholders for the effective implementation of beekeeping development in the region.

Coordinate with concerned Division in DA – CAR to enhance marketing, honey production, packaging and the development of the business in the region.

Undertake researches to address the specific concern of beekeeping in the region.

Gathers information and data as directed by supervisor.

Generates, calculates and correlates data as directed.

Participates in monitoring of beekeeping project in the region.

Promotes beekeeping industry as one of leading additional source of income.

Educate farmers on the importance of honey bees in their crops.

Manage and performs all the activities in Brood Rearing, Queen Rearing, Honey flow Preparation, Honey Flow, Harvesting and Marketing of products and by-products.

Maintenance and repairs of Apiculture facility

Beautification and ground improvements at Apiary

Maintenance and repairs of beekeeping materials and equipment’s.

Does beekeeping carpentry such as making of hive boxes, frames, inner and top covers, bottom boards, feeder boxes and fabrication of hive stands.

Trains Hands on Trainees at Technology Demonstration Apiary.

Assist volunteer Beekeepers at Technology Demonstration Apiary.

Prepare action plans for the Technology Demonstration Apiary for the whole year.

Attends trainings, seminars, forums and conventions that are necessary to improve my skills and knowledge in beekeeping.

Prepare all documents for the purchase of equipment’s and materials to be used at Technology Demonstration Apiary.

Plants forage plants on any possible area.

Look for suitable place to migrate bee colonies.
