As the Commercial Broker for this company, not only do I quote policies, I act as the liaison between the retail agent and the carrier. Learning the different carrier’s guidelines in not just 1 state, but up to 45 states. Working with 3+ carriers, it is my knowledge of the different carrier’s guidelines to know what they will and won’t accept. Having that knowledge allows me to place the quote under the best carrier for the optimum price to win the quote. I am responsible for understanding no loss statements, FMCSA guidelines and CAB reports, reading accident reports to best determine how and where to place the business. Having licensing experience from prior positions has allowed be to be able to better review SOS reports as well. Underwriting Assistant

Assist the Underwriter in binding renewals as well as new policies. Setting up new binders/renewals in IMS to be invoiced. Making sure that all appropriate paperwork is signed and obtained for submission. Submitting the invoices to the retail agents and setting up free finance policies and pay plans. Processing endorsements and invoicing those to the agent. Working with different Carriers on risks and other policy related questions. Answer phone calls from retail agents, provide quotes as needed. Licensing Specialist

Maintain license for Life and Health Third Party Administrator business with all 50 states. DOI filing renewals for our business entities and for the directors in all 50 states. Appointing through NIPR and Sircon as necessary in order to obtain the license and keeping up with the continuing education for our Domicile State. Under all the different states, I also file annual and biennial renewals with their respective Secretary of State heads. Maintain a monthly spreadsheet of Third Party Administrator license renewals or other items filed with the state under all 3 businesses. Creating payments for the filing fees as needed and obtaining all of the backup paperwork that goes with each report. Contact person for each state when we have an issue or question with a new filing or a renewal filing. Assisting the accounting department with daily deposits. Filing Surplus Lines taxes that are due quarterly or annually. Auditing of member packets for our fulfillment team.

Agency Licensing

One of my key duties was making agency appointments and termination of agencies as well as individual agents in those offices, ordering background checks on new appointees. Other duties in agency management included updating NGIC’s agency management system, keeping current w-9’s, correct appointment information, obtaining current license information for both agent and agency, correcting tax id information, doing yearly audits, working with Territory Sales Reps in keeping and maintaining accurate information on both agency and agents even when having to combine several different locations. Assisting the TSM’s in New Agency Set-ups, Merges, Terminations as well as Additional Locations. Offering them the knowledge they seek when an agency cannot quote in a certain product or what they are missing for a rollover.

Commission Accounting

In commission accounting, I was involved in assisting agents with understanding their monthly commission statements and the policies that they are paid for as far as how much, when and the percentage amounts. Constantly working with agents as well as Marketing to better understand the process. This also includes tracking annual commission earnings and bonus earnings for annual tax information including w-9’s for each agent as well as the agencies and maintaining the 1099 file with additional information. Monthly balancing of month-end information to pay agents for the commissions that they accrued during the month. Working directly with agents to research information on the agency commission statements regarding policies and items paid, breaking those apart so the agent can balance their books. Audits as needed for our internal and external auditors including the IRS. Researching rates that were in correct, creating tickets to apply rates, test those tickets and moving those tickets into production. Working closely with testing, developers and other areas within the company to ensure that something was handled properly before going into production.
