I owned and operated a sports apparel company. As the owner I was responsible for the design, creation and sales of products, as well as oversight of staff management, logistics and the overall customer experience. This required creativity, an understanding of my client base, and the ability to maintain pace with quickly changing trends. We sold products through our online website as well as various trade shows throughout the US and Canada. As the owner of a small business, I learned to grow with societal trends which included learning to use social media to create and maintain a strong online presence thus enabling me to target our primary clientele. Additionally, I have fine-tuned my customer service and sales skills. We often made custom pieces which required working with a client to get to a satisfactory end result. Often this required suggestions to the contrary of what they initially requested, or small changes and swaps to bring their idea to life. This skill works well across all sales settings as the customer will often come in knowing what result they wish to achieve but needing guidance to the right product for the job.
