Central Pennsylvania Food Bank

3908 Corey Road

Harrisburg, PA 17109

Dear HR & Hiring Directors,

As an OTR truck driver for Central Transport, Schneider Company and JB Hunt, and a prior graduate of the York County School of Technology’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program, I am pleased to apply for a local CDL Class A truck driver position at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. I am seeking local work and I believe my 14+ years of leadership in Afghanistan working closely with the United States military bring unique and transferable skills to this employment opportunity. My career experiences have heightened my determination to be the best I can be for myself, my family, and my community. Driving a heavy vehicle with costly goods and meeting a demanding schedule is not easily learned without practice. With my 400+ hour driver training, I have 12 months of regional and independent over-the-road driving experience and I bring qualifications not taught in class: managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; planning work in close communication with colleagues; having adequate knowledge of truck mechanics; making sound decisions in emergencies; managing teams and complex systems; being patient and proactive with challenges. Coming from a multiethnic community and workforce, I take pride in engaging with and respecting people of all backgrounds. As my resume shows, these are qualities I learned as I advanced through more than a decade of U.S. leadership training to serve as a trusted U.S. ally. My years of experience in relevant transportation roles include leading the inspection, maintenance and mobilization of a dedicated fleet of 300+ military vehicles. I am greatly interested in becoming a driver for the Central PA Food Bank and I would be honored to share my credentials with you in greater detail. Your mission to address hunger by supporting people of diverse backgrounds who have historically been under-represented is important and I will bring valuable lived experience and dedication to this work.

At your convenience, please feel free to call, text or email me to schedule an interview. If perhaps your position has already been filled, please keep my resume on file to make me aware of any future openings. Thank you for your kind consideration.

Sincerely,

Nangeyali Abtahal
