Refinery Maintenance / Cost Engineer

At Sunoco’s Philadelphia Refinery duties focused on understanding and optimizing costs for oil to gas processing and turn around project execution while assisting but not limited to the safe and efficient execution of refinery maintenance & turn around activities. Work in this area included preventive maintenance, equipment replacement, and process unit reliability. Equipment included in the maintenace responsibilities included but was not limited to: cooler, chillers, HVAC Systems, condensers, and distribution systems. Cost analysis and work scope activities encompassed all inbound and outbound refinery assets. Optimized equipment operations and the promotion of continuous improvement through the implementation of better tools in cost/maintenance/engineering management and personnel visibility reporting system.

Corporate Attorney/Business Development

In this developmental position as one of the Corporate Attorneys, primary responsibility was legislative review. Secondary activities included legal/contract review, analysis, labor relations, and in an advisory role regarding lawsuits. In the role of Business Development Analyst participated in site permitting, development and presentation of new strategies to generate business opportunities. Implemented an automated system for determining a businesses’ net worth as part of the evaluation process.

Team Leader-Pipeline Systems

Served as the Team Leader in the evaluation of requirements and possible solutions for upgrading the existing Pipeline Control Software Solution. Team was a multi-disciplined technical group requiring a fast paced individual tasked to assess and explore proper system operation/maintenance protocols, establish KPI’s, and project the Return On Investment (ROI) for a major software operating system.

Manager – Vehicle Logistics

Responsible for the operation of the Sunoco Transportation Fleet consisting of over 200 vehicles in partnering with Outside Fleet Carriers in order to service over 5000 retail outlets. Pioneered/Championed the optimization of equipment needs and use of remote delivery in monitoring and verification of site fueling requirements. Introduced targets for safety and regulatory compliance while reorganizing department by implementing continuous improvement tools and delineating responsibility for industry trends, negotiated transportation contracts, insurance coverage, and warranty coverage.

Manager – Operations-Newark Terminal Facility Complex

Responsible for the routing of all oil products arriving and departing the Newark Terminal Complex via truck, marine and pipeline operations. Complex operation included two terminal sites, 24/7 vehicle operations, and terminal technical operators. Oversaw internal and external safety training, execution and planning for all capital construction projects, facility maintenace activities, purchasing, building system issues including power management and electrical systems, HVAC, SCADA controls, and steam maintenance requirements, mentor/evaluate employee performance, and collective bargaining.

Responsible for facility management, management of multiple projects and organizational construction/repairs, and preventive maintenance at approximately 150 retail outlets. Duties included engineering management and the supervision of service technicians dispersed over a multi- state area.
