PERSONAL STATEMENT

I was 16 when I got my first real job at Woodruff's Men's Store in Alhambra, CA. The owner, C.V.

"Woody" Woodruff was a 3rd generation haberdasher and took me under his wing. Woodruff's was a classic old-school personal-trade men's store, selling Louis Roth custom suits customised in-house by old world European tailors. I took to this like a duck to water and during high school and all of college, I put on my suit and tie each day after classes and absorbed all that I could in this highly relational world of personal service. My life and career path have been greatly impacted by those years being mentored by Mr. Woodruff in customer service, and beyond doubt have impacted who I am today. I was sort of born into the trades. My dad was a union lather, his dad a plastering contractor. My uncles were plasterers and rebar / steel men. I fought that destiny for most of my college career and was pre-med, wanting to be doctor and drive a Mercedes, all the while building custom furniture for clients. I loved all of the medical subject matter, but didn't have the grades to get into med school. And so, at the prompting of my grandmother, the wife of the plastering contractor, I changed my major to Industrial Studies / Manufacturing / Furniture design. The next semester, my GPA was 4.1 and I made the Dean's list. For the first time in my college career, I felt like I was in the right place...in a groove, or maybe I should say...dado. Beginning in 1992 I became the morning drive-time DJ on Christian Radio KVIP. In my radio persona as

"The Morning Manna Man" I've had the privilege of broadcasting M-F to a listening audience of over 2M. Over the years, I've interviewed many key leaders in the North state. As such, I've developed long-term relationships which have enabled me to be a key player in 60 fund raising campaigns for the parent company, Pacific Cascade Communications, Inc. Since 1992 I've been at the forefront of these semi-annual fund raising events which have brought in funds in excess of $6,000,000. PERSONAL SKILLS

Licensed "B" Contractor / Master Cabinetmaker. Possess all trade skills to build a house from the ground up.

Versed in the methods, materials, and techniques used in building construction found in the California Building Code for commercial and residential construction.

Familiar with the basic principles and practices of engineering and architecture as applied to building construction and structural design and the required blueprints.

I excel at verbal and written communication, which enables me to smoothly transfer concepts and negotiate difficult situations, resulting in enjoyable business management relationships.

I interact effectively with the public and employees; read and interpret building plans, project specifications, and industrial blue prints; read, interpret, and apply applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations for the review of building construction plans.

I am well able and skilled in the use of computers for business, including Excel, MS Office Suite, desk top publishing, imaging, videography, audio recording / editing and Cloud interaction.

I am very comfortable with public speaking venues such as seminars and sales training sessions.

I take great pleasure in seeing a job done right, from the beginning to completion. My ability to get the job organized at the start and keep it that way, while remaining calm, yet having fun, makes me a valuable asset to any organization.
