This is the response I gave to a previous-prospective employer upon receipt of my Resume and I feel it is worthy of adding this information to my response to you.
* What accomplishment are you most proud of?
With hard work [i.e., politely persistent stamina] and adopting a sponge-like mind set (because when you are learning you never know that is going to be most important so we must absorb as much as possible) it is possible to be highly effective. RE: I went from virtually no professional sales experience in 1990 to National Accounts Manager for Pony Express in 1999.
* 3 reasons why you would be a fit for your Company.
Goodness, must I only give 3 reasons? Please allow me to share.
. Strong history of Business to Business sales success.
. I am a cold calling and follow up Trooper.
. The reality is, if-you-do not learn-to-love-it, you will not be good at it dawned early in my Sales career. So I love it.
. I am adept with Long and Short sales cycles.
. Consultative and Consultant-Teacher, sales approach suits me well.
. The reality of Relationship building has become an extremely valuable asset for me. I have learned that when something goes wrong, as it sometimes does, having a good relationship will get you at least one opportunity to fix things.
. Not having a good relationship often results in clients just going to the next supplier with no explanation. A very good relationship may even get you two or more opportunities to fix problems.
. Also, the reality that maturity brings Trustworthiness, Reliability, Experience, Quick Learning, Stamina and Know How is also a strongly favorable asset I bring.
. What would your current manager/former managers say about you? There is no doubt that if the company had not changed their business model and eliminated their field sales staff I would still be employed by them.
