WORK EXPERIENCE:
May 2021 to current: Dock worker at Macy’s Department Store.
March 2021 to May 2021: McDonalds crew member.
November 2020 to January 2021: Liquor Barn main cashier and would help to close the store nightly. Dealt with a wide variety of customers.
November 2018 to November 2020: Academy Sporting Goods asset protection. Watched for shoplifters and helped close up the store.
August 2017 to November 2018: Asset Protection at Best Buy. In this role I assisted customers in finding their way to the products they sought, checked receipts of customers who made purchases and monitored security cameras for shoplifters.
August 2015 to February 2017: Electronics sales clerk at Walmart. I assisted customers, answered their questions about products and provided direction in choosing a variety of electronic merchandise, usually at night by myself. Worked anywhere from 20 to 40 hours of overtime during a two-week pay period.
November 2012 – April 2015: Sales associate and photo clerk at Walgreens drug store. Good suggestive sales record and outstanding work record. I was unemployed for three years in Florida, which is why I returned to Kentucky.
December 2008 - August 2009: Emergency Medical Technician with Americare Ambulance Service, working both on 911 trucks and on inter-facility trucks, transporting trauma and medical patients to various ERs, caring for these patients en route and transporting others to facilities such as Hospice.
April 2005 - April 2008: EMT with TransCare Ambulance Service. As an EMT working on ambulances either on city or country shifts, worked
with a variety of traumatic injuries, medical emergencies and psychiatric cases. With my interest in going into the medical field, this provided a situation to see a variety of ailments and conditions
in the field, giving some scope to the knowledge acquired from studies.
1993 - 2003: Staff Writer for 10 years with The Tampa Tribune, now defunct, but was once one of Florida's largest newspapers. I was originally hired to write about crime, which I did for ten years in addition to general assignment work. While covering serial killers and pedophiles in Polk and Pinellas Counties, I also wrote features about a variety of subjects - including medical, business, tourism, disasters, riots and about anything else covered within the realm of print news.
During my last five years at the paper, I covered the military and intelligence community, as CENTCOM and SOCOM are both based in Tampa. I created a niche that was recognized with awards from a variety of military organizations. I developed a close tie with the Army Special Forces as well as the intelligence community. Green Berets, Delta Force and Navy SEALs trusted me, because I did not burn them or put operations in danger.
1989 - 1993: Staff Writer for the Winter Haven News Chief in Winter Haven, FL. While there I covered Polk County government, state and national political issues, the environment and crime.
EDUCATION:
2003 - 2008: the University of South Florida for B.S. in bio-medical sciences. I did not complete my final course to get the degree due to immediate opening availability at MUA above. During my time at USF, I also completed EMT training at HCC in Tampa. I am 4 credits short of a bio-med degree, but have no interest whatsoever in finalizing it.
1986 - 1988: B.S. in Journalism from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. While working for the student produced Independent Florida Alligator and for the Gainesville Sun, worked full-time while carrying 12 to 17 hours of classes per semester.
1981 - 1986 B.A. in Communications with emphasis on print journalism and minor in political science with emphasis on Eastern Europe and Middle East from the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. Studies included three semesters of Cyrillic languages.
